Just wanted to give a little update. It’s been over 2 weeks since we have moved from the house and moved into the apartment. I can’t wait until our new home is finished being built because apartment life isn’t for me. The kids have definitely enjoyed the pool though. Today I went to mass for the first time in over 25 years. It felt amazing to be there it’s hard to put into words how I felt. There were numerous times I had to hold back my emotions. It’s amazing how God works. Literally the first verse in the mornings first reading was Psalm 68:5 “A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation”. After mass was over my friend introduced me to the priest and we talked about what happened. He asked if it was ok for him to pray for my wife and myself. I said of course and I closed my eyes and he put his hand on me and we prayed. The tears starting rolling down my face and I had an amazing sense of peace and I knew at that moment that my wife is in heaven and I know that everything is going to be ok.

It grows on you.

No maintenance, no yard work, low utility bills, pool.

Glad you're beginning to heal. Don't be upset with yourself when there are set backs.

That’s awesome to hear! Keep looking for those moments. It’s like little gifts they leave behind.
Also, check out this book, whenever you feel compelled: “Therefore I have hope” by Cameron Cole. He lost his son and wrote a book about how God carried him through.

Very happy to hear this. After my parents died, God and my faith turned my life from darkness to peace and love. Continued prayers for your family.

Man every time I read your posts it brings tears to my eyes. Continued prayers for you and your kids.

And your wife IS in heaven waiting for you for when your chores are complete. Raise those kids, provide for them, live your life.

Prayer in a time of need is powerful. The exact thing you described here happened to me at a very close friend’s funeral years and years ago. He committed suicide and I was having a terrible time dealing with it. They started praying and in that moment, I was moved by an indescribable sensation of peace.

Wife recently passed to bring everyone up to speed. I couldn't imagine losing my wife especially with children involved.

Good stuff.

This board is at its best when people are willing to be vulnerable and share the struggles and adversity that they face. The genuine honest advice that many offer to their fellow man that leads to new perspectives never gets old.

Thanks for sharing man. Godspeed.

Editing - didn't know there was a back story and now I feel like an utter d-bag. My apologies!
