Hall said that police are obtaining a warrant charging the officer, whom the chief declined to name until she is formally charged. The chief said the officer's blood was drawn to test for alcohol and drugs, and the Texas Rangers have been called in to help with investigation.
Wait. Everyone said her blood wasn't drawn and that the other police were going to cover this up.

No, I don't think everyone said that.

Well this thread died quickly as soon as she got charged. I guess it isn't as fun when the cop haters can't grouse about preferential treatment and the vaunted "blue wall of silence."

I think the concerm most people had is that she wasnt arrested immediately, and instead they followed procedure for an on duty shooting even this happened off duty.

What I posted at 9:30 this morning but I am the one saying she isn't getting preferential treatment and "spinning" this in the officer's favor.
The fact that she wasn't arrested by 9:30 this morning is preferential treatment. I'm not sure how you fail to see this.

Not compared to Gasser. Sometimes you need to just take your L.

From the police chief in the article linked:
quote:
"This is a very unique situation," Police Chief U. Renee Hall said at an afternoon news conference. "We have ceased handling it under our normal protocol as an officer-involved shooting."
Why the hell would they handle it as an officer-involved shooting in the first place? That is the exact preferential treatment we were discussing.

Probably because an officer was involved. Crazy notion right?

Damn dude. Can you not see that they need at least a couple of hours to figure out what the frick went down? This isn't TV where they wrap things up in 15 minutes between commercials.
She likely lawyered up right away and collecting evidence, getting witness statements, looking at the crime scene, GETTING HER TO A FACILITY TO DRAW BLOOD, etc takes time. I guess in your world, Columbo walks into the shooting scene takes a look around and points to the perp and says "book her Danno." That isn't how it works.

It sounds like you think there were as many unknowns in that case as there are here.

For the umpteenth time, a regular civilian would have been arrested with probable cause at the scene. Plain and simple.

It sounds like you apparently know everything there is to know about this one. I thought you were an engineer. Didn't realize you were a cop in Dallas. Learn something new everyday.

Accept for those times when it doesn't go down that way. But those times just don't count because you say so

An officer involved shooting protocol for an off-duty officer who walked into the wrong apartment and killed the homeowner.
Sure, that makes perfect sense.

Let's see. Was an officer involved?
