Update: missing 4-year-old girl found after home invasion in Charleston area

Mom found 'brutally beaten' in Charleston home where 4-year-old Heidi Todd went missing
Girl's father is in the Coast Guard and was away on training.

Though details of the ordeal remain uncertain, authorities said their focus is finding the girl. The mother gave investigators a limited description of a suspect as a Hispanic man in his 20s, but the police said they did not know if Heidi was with anyone.

Hope she's found, but she's been missing since last night, so the odds aren't improving with time. I find it odd that the police won't issue an Amber Alert in this case as they supposedly haven't ruled out all possibilities other than a kidnapping. There are a lot of homes being constructed in that area of town though, so I hope she is just hiding in one of them.

From AL.com, a description of the car and that it had Illinois plates. Also confirmed the tats on the perp's face cheeks.

I'm confused. Was this a random home invasion and kidnapping? Most of the time, there is some established relationship between the perp and the victim.
