30 years in prison.
Could you imagine how many goobers Erik sucked in 30 years
if it was just one a month for 30 years = 360

I'm sure he will be a normal productive citizen if released

True, but they would also live the rest of their lives with more money than 99% of this board will ever have due to book deals, documentaries, interviews, etc.
I would gladly have a normal childhood and not be in the can for 30 years or more than a billion dollars.

For all of those who say “they could have just moved out”….
It’s not that simple. Their dad was a very powerful man who was well connected. They probably don’t know anyone who is not under their dad’s influence.
If he was abusing them for decades and threatening them with their lives -> their only response would be to try and eliminate the threat.
Kids who are sexually abused for decades are not immediately logical when they are young adults.
I agree with this. Assuming they were sexually abused, and I tend to believe them, they reached a point of fear and no end in sight. They were under Daddy's thumb even though they were technically adults. I'm sure they also likely thought no one would believe them. Daddy was powerful. They had no money of their own and Daddy would have found them wherever they went. Yes, they were dumb, particularly with all the spending after the murders. I assume they were celebrating their freedom. Dumb.
ETA: What's going to be interesting is whether the assigned judge is going to agree with the prosecutor. That remains to be seen.

I’m no lawyer, but I think the Son of Sam laws can prevent them from making money off any notoriety they earned relating to their crimes. Maybe one of our resident OT legal eagles can expound.

They will become quasi-famous before one of them kills someone else.

I wonder how many black guys are unjustly in prison but don't have celebrity/media support?
A close examination of the Melendez brothers case does not seem to warrant relief (in other words, the evidence does not seem to support the selective evidence cited by the media). I hate TV shows expounded on someone's innocence, at least when the show does not present the opposition's positions. It is easy to win a one-sided argument.

Apparently all 14 million of the estate has been eaten up by taxes and attorney fees.
All Life Insurance is null and void because the two boys were convicted of the murder.....
Unless they get dragged into to day soap opera circuit ......they'll be broke ...
The liberals will have a ball with this ......

After looking up the details of the case, I'm a bit conflicted. The murders were gruesome. They specifically planned it. Seemingly took joy in the killings with the amount of shots they took. Then they covered it up in order to life the rich life for multiple months before being caught.
At the same time. they were being sexually abused by their parents throughout their entire childhood, up until shortly before the murders. I say this was no big loss to society at all. frick pedophiles. There was a story here a few weeks ago where a father killed a man who raped his teenage daughter. Everyone agreed he should not go to prison. Gary Plauche is regarded as a hero on this board.
With how the brothers took joy in executing the killings, and how they covered it up afterwards. I do think prison was the correct choice. But with the context of the horrific sexual abuse they suffered for many many years, I do think 30-35 years in prison with then being eligible for parole sounds right. Their entire record shouldn't just be expunged and exonerated, however.

OJ was able to make money off of it, but Fred Goldman was there to attempt to take every cent of it every single time b/c of the money owed from the civil trial.

There were idiots who helped fund their defense.
There were idiots who married them, and have stayed married to them for over 25 years.
Yes they are going to quickly make money when they get out b/c this country is full of idiots.
They could probably start a go fund me for somethign stupid and make a million dollars overnight on it.

I’d much rather have my life than the Menendez Brothers. Even with the money, they’ve had an incredibly shitty life. No one would want to be Michael Corleone for example.

People who kill someone for the reason the Menendez brothers did I don’t think go and kill other people on a whim. OJ would go out and kill any other woman or dude that pissed him off, but the Menendez brothers aren’t cut from that same cloth.

Yeah, but Fred Goldman is a good man who deserved none of that shite. The people the Menendez brothers killed are world class scumbags and are missed by no one. The Menendez Brothers have served their time. I’d give them ten years for what they did if I was on the jury or the judge.

Also another great Norm joke:
“In Los Angeles this week, Lyle and Erik Menendez were found guilty of first-degree murder. So, to review California law –– It is –– Killing your wife, legal. Killing your parents, illegal.”

They were of age where they could leave, but it was all about the money, money, money. They should be lifers.

Nah, their father would have tracked them down. They were prisoners in a different manner.
