UPDATE Georgia Cop faces 35 Years for shooting unarmed man

The jury let him off on murder, which would have mandatory life sentence.
But they found him guilty of aggravated assault and some other small shite, and he's facing 35 years, sentencing on Nov 1.
He's a veteran on the force who had never had any conduct issues, never had any reports of excessive force, etc.
The deceased was a 26 year old mentally ill afghan vet that was running around naked in apartment complex, cops show up, guy charges cop, cop shoots. Cops had no advance knowledge the guy was off his meds or was mentally challenged, etc.
Doesn't seem like that big of a deal, just a shitty situation.
But here's where it gets sticky.
Cop is white.
Victim is black.
Jurisdiction is 90% black.
Jury is black.
Judge is black female, well known radical liberal judge.
He fricked.
About a week before all this happened, I was in a fender bender and this cop worked my accident. I was the victim, a lady rear ended me. He treated me like a criminal, he was probably the most dickhead cop I've ever encountered. At least the second most dickhead. Definitely top 3. Anyways, he still doesn't deserve to go to prison for defending himself on a call where a crazy dude charged him.
What say yall?

There were no facts. Just that the jury thinks he used excessive force, therefore violated his oath to protect and serve. It's a BS charge. But one he was convicted on, and will be sentenced for.

Alot of what has come out from the jury this week is that they were deadlocked on the murder charge for a week, so the jury made a deal where the not-guilty voters would vote guilty on the lesser charges, and the guilty-voters would vote not-guilty on the felony murder. A compromise. The charge itself is unfounded.
This really is an abortion of justice.

I remember when this happened years ago. Wonder why it took so long to finally go to trial.

The cop did it by the book. If you want to put the system on trial, then put the system on trial. Change the book. But this one cop who did everything he was trained to do, by the book, shouldn't spend the rest of his life in prison.

I'm not taking a stand on one sidorit the other because I just don't have enough information about this particular instance, but I do want to know when "the book" was changed to "kill all unarmed naked people running at you." When cops routinely carry sticks, mace, and tasers why exactly does naked and unarmed equal instant kill?

Was this on a clear and sunny day? Or at least a well lit area with no obstructed view? He could have easily had a weapon. Bc “he was naked” could be as accurate as “hands up don’t shoot” from a few years ago.
