Parents in on this.
They were all hoping that it would not be found or animals and decomposition would so damage the body that cause of death could never be determined.
As long as he never says anything he could make up his story later depending on how things played out over the next few weeksmonths.
He either offed himself or he has fled the country at this point. If it’s the second his parents gave him cover.

Question at the end asked, what lead them to that particular area of the campsite...answered with "we cannot comment as its an ongoing investigation"
