Where are you reading that? I gotta drive to the east side for work tomorrow.

Driving back home today I took 311. They just put in a new water control structure by equity. The water was going up the bank and back flowing behind it.

Those houses/ditch right there to savanne always hold water, but this was the most I’ve ever seen. Some spots 50 feet or more up on people’s lawn.

However I just got back from riding around and I must say, the City shines and looks beautiful when it’s lit up during this kinda rains.

Not sure what it is but everything is very so picturesque

That area along 311 always floods.

The new structure has a floodgate that is supposed to stop the water from coming back up Little Bayou Black. Unfortunately, the engineers did not think enough to put enough height on the bank opposite the pump station.

Here is a drone shot from last week's ribbon-cutting that I screen grabbed from TPTV.

You can see, they built a retaining wall at a plus 8-foot elevation but did not put 8 feet of dirt behind it to match the elevation on the other side. I can see why it was backflowing. Once it gets to above 2 or 3 feet. The water will come over the banks and flow back north. Here is a ground-level shot from HTV that shows how low the north side bank is. With nothing stopping the water, no wonder this thing did no good.

Not to mention that below that structure, Little Bayou Black was very high. It was nearing the bottom of some bridges. I even think Gordy's Gazebo was flooded too since he lives on Little Bayou Black near Polk Street.

HTV also posted a video of the flooding along 311.

Water is still high along 311.

The crossover by MLK/Bayou Gardens and the Mall was closed.

These are some of the official rain reports of more than 5 inches.
9.3 inches in Gray (between Houma and Thibodaux) as of 2 hours ago.

I have heard of some unofficial reports well over 10.

Galliano airport is over 7.5 so far.

I know it always floods 311 right here but this is the worst I’ve seen in ten years of driving this road daily.

*yeayerday* today it’s down.
