Yeah it's the perfect crime. A 60 year old diabetic holds someone up in the lower Garden District. Ward, a stalwart of all that is good, disarms him until the victim has a concussion, and then two witnesses, who were in on it with the victim, all tell the same story. That's some The Wire level storytelling, with much less believability.

Multiple witnesses who corroborated their accounts with the multiple surveillance cameras = Yup none of those things happened in this case.

It doesnt seem that far fetched for me to believe multiple vagrants could be together causing trouble.....

However, I do not think that was the case here

Jackson tells Ward "Give me your money or I will shoot you"

wouldn't that have come out when he was arrested for battery 2 weeks ago?

Ward continues to kick jackson because he believes he has a gun.

Surely that would have been in the police report from when he was arrested for battery 2 weeks ago.....dont you think?

Yes a gang of vagrants setting up a regular everyman sounds like an every day occurrence. It's a tale as old as time.

I wouldnt think the vagrants planned to have one murdered moron, I would say they planned to have the everyman give them his money.......

Im sure Ward gave a statement when he was arrested for battery....if Red would have pulled a gun on him, Ward would have written that in his statement and it would have been included in the police report

Given how unlikely that situation is, sure. But I don't think that's what happened here, you don't think that's what has happened here, but you apparently think that's a possible cogent defense for Wards behavior. Believe what you like bub.

Have we seen that police report (serious question)?

He was probably piss arse drunk, in a foul mood, and Jackson and him had words about something that set him off and it turned tragic.

This is my best guess.

I can walk from my front door to the scene of the crime in about 45 seconds. There's a crew of older guys who hang out on the sidewalk from in front of the Red Zone store to the corner of St. Andrew pretty regularly between noon and 2 a.m. They'll do standard stuff like block the sidewalk with their bikes so pedestrians have to stop, then ask them for money. I've never seen any of these guys get physical with passers-by, but they make it difficult to get by and get very testy when people refuse to give them money--"f you whitey", really vulgar comments to women, spitting at people, etc.

I've never really felt threatened by any of this crew, nor do I specifically recognize Jackson as ever hanging around them--just trying to offer some context. But I can easily see a very drunk guy going off the rails when someone spits at him. That certainly wouldn't justify kicking Jackson in the head once he was on the ground though.
