The deceased was not homeless, and as far as we know he on the up and up. However, I can't tell you how many times I have had a homeless/panhandler/Crackhead (both white and black) pester me and say crazy shite to me in Downtown/LGD/FQ New Orleans.

he's repeating what people here always say when a black person commits a crime
In every thread like this, white or black, people buy far too much into the prosecutions story and victims story at the beginning because that is the only side they get
It has nothing to do with race really

But be honest, how often do middle class, college grads, with no criminal background, who work in a professional setting, murder people unprovoked with their bare hands?
If that middle class college grad professional with no criminal background is highly intoxicated and approached by a black man at 1AM in New Orleans, I think the chances of him fighting unprovoked go up significantly.
Most of us would be pretty vigilant in New Orleans at 1AM. If you're really drunk and perhaps a bit angry, staying vigilant could reasonably jump to taking an unprovoked action.

There is no possibility at all that he could have hid sociopathic tendencies, which are also highly rewarded in certain fields, from family and friends, the people most likely to write off his behavior?
I literally said this:

If the races were switched, LSUTangerine would be the only member here trying to wait for a trial.
This is very true. I’ll be the first to admit I’d be in that number, even though it would be wrong.

This is a complete lie Go follow the Hayes thread. Myself and many others said lets wait for more facts Go look at the Gasser thread. In that exact thread, more people are on the murdered black persons side as well
Hayes was black on black. Gasser is a road rage incident.
I'm talking about this exact same situation, with the same reports, but with races flipped. 60 year old white panhandler in New Orleans killed by 25 year old black guy. Every publicized report suggesting the black guy was unprovoked. You can't tell me there would be a single person wanting to wait until all the facts come out.

Maybe, but Hayes and Gasser are not the best examples to provide.

Given how regular an occurrence this is, the mere fact of being pestered shouldn't provoke a man to kick anyone in the face, let alone kill someone.

Calling him a tPOS at this point seems pretty fair.
Sure, but what about this
quote:Lock the thug up and throw away the key
Pride, come on man. They go hand in hand. If he's a tPOS because of the reports that are out, he's guilty of second degree murder, a crime which carries a mandatory life sentence. They will almost literally lock him up and throw away the key.

People do it all the time.
And maybe he didn’t hide it all that well but everybody ignored the signs.
Someone in this thread said he was described as having “big time anger problems”

I'm amazed at how many people are defending him, as I've read all 90 pages of this God forsaken thread this morning. Frankly it's embarrassing. Notably the lack of consistency between the scenario you describe and the one that occurred here, but I'm not surprised that consistency is one thing this board lacks.

I disagree.
If said black guy came from a good family, graduated college, had a good job, no criminal record, and had several close friends on this website vouching for his character before the incident, I'm sure people would be more likely to say they want to hear all of the facts first.

I disagree. If it was a black man in which many posters were either mutual friends or ran in the same circles, I guarantee you people would be wanting to wait for the facts to come out.

I honestly think you are assuming the 25 year old black kid would be a criminal looking thug, which in itself, is you letting race play a factor.....
If the 60 year old white male was homeless (or looked homeless like red), and the black male graduated from lsu and looked like this:
I dont think the thread would go much differently

This board thinks I'm a liberal because I tend to stick up for minorities more than most, and I can unequivocally tell you I'd have the same exact reaction if the races were reversed. Plain and simple. There are reports that are really bad for Ward, and rumors that are even worse. "Trusting your gut" is the only reason people are even considering Ward may be innocent.
I'm not suggesting that's wrong, but it's perfectly reasonable for the majority of folks to think he should be locked up for life given the reports/statements made public thus far.

And I'm suggesting it isn't as hard as you think it is. There are sociopaths who are completely functional. Many of them extremely successful.
