Because he was a 25 year old wasted on a weekend night at 1 AM?
Come on man, that's reaching. Everyone I know has an alcohol problem then.
Maybe they do have an alcohol problem but for this specific case he was extremely inebriated according to the report and the poster GeorgeReymond stated this about being "around him many times where he's damn near blackout" :
Coupled with him at least ending up at minimum assaulting an old man...sounds like an alcohol problem or this guy is just straight violent. Can't tell me its not one or the other.
quote:
I think his friends that have known him and his family since grade school would know if he was hostile towards strangers.
Maybe he never had a reason to be when he was in an environment with heavy drinking. Do other members of his family have a history of becoming aggressive when drinking?
quote:
Again, you're trying to make this black and white. That just isn't how the world works.
I agree, but there are still signs being shown just not everyone decides to acknowledge those signs. As I had stated earlier in the thread, his friends were likely similar in their behaviors (not saying his friends are bad people or doing anything bad) and it never crossed their minds he could become like this.
quote:
Some things are just unexplainable. The blackout drunk mixed with whatever emotions he had that night mixed with whatever situation happened with the 60 year old man led to a perfect storm of shite.
Exactly, but that doesn't just happen out of the blue. There was something within him that caused him to act out, and that was objectively BAD.

I think it's believable this guy was a decent person before all of this, but it doesn't preclude him from killing a man while drunk.

Your habit of screenshotting other posts is really creepy for some reason.
That is unrelated, but I felt the need to share

Totally agree.

Wonder if he was on drugs or mixing pills with alcohol...that shite would make anyone black out drunk

Why are you still in here arguing with everyone? We get it, you don't like him. Nobody is asking you to become his pen pal

Don't need a passport to take a cruise. Easy to get everywhere from Honduras.

People keep talking about him being ‘blackout drunk’
I have no idea about anything with this case, but coming from my experience, I seriously doubt I’d have the coordination and/or strength to kill someone with my bare hands while being ‘blackout drunk’

I've always considered you to be the OT's moral compass. Keep up the good work, Walt.

Why is it creepy when its put out in public for everyone to look at? Don't post if you dont want anyone to see it. You asked why I thought he had an alcohol problem and that seemed like a relevant post. Do you think that post is irrelevant to the claim he has alcohol problem?

Before marriage, I think 90% of my sexual encounters were after midnight
But lots of them weren't good

Don't know if Xanax makes you violent. It can definitely blank you out and I could see how someone could be drastically different after a lot of Whiskey/Vodka + Xanax

quote:I'm sure it did, but I think describing it as "blackout" as opposed to just drunk, is a subtle way to distant him from his actions.
But to try and say that didn't affect his decision making is absurd
he may have been a good guy and may still mostly be a good guy. People aren't really as black and white, good guy/bad guy, as we try to pretend.

Any idea what sort of bond he'll be facing? Would the prosecutor try to argue he's a flight risk?
I agree with tLSU. Probably in the 250k range if he has someone good show up to represent him. State will argue he is an inherent flight risk because of the mandatory life sentence he is facing if convicted of 2nd degree murder. Defense will argue lack of criminal history and that he turned himself in, etc.

Thanks man. I’m not perfect but if more people listened to me I believe this world would be a better place. I feel so bad for this young man. His life is basically ruined.

From what I understand in the Louisiana revised statutes, had the victim been 65 years or older, Ward would likely be charged with first degree murder and could be looking at a death penalty case.
