Jack of all trades, master of none.
Read constantly.
Had a wide range of friends coming up. From upper crust to bottom of the gutter. A lot of life experiences.
Constantly studying..
Constantly trying to learn. If I don't know the answer to something I study it. The other day in the cruise thread we were talking about ships, someone mentioned a type of turn to me. That day I made sure I learned the terms and actions/results of most trained shipping maneuvers.
Learning is my hobby. It's why I chose to do what I do. Every day I am presented with puzzles I never seen before that I have to figure out.
Challenges.
I don't know everything but I want to.
Like when I get free time later today, I'll probably read a Whole bunch of law procedures on this topic so I come off better next time we discuss it.

I doubt a prosecutor would make it a capital case, but first degree murder in LA can be a capital offense, and if the victim is over 65, it becomes a first degree charge.
Many people mistakenly believe there is some sort of premeditation required in LA, but that's not the case.
ETA - to be clear, a crime of passion would be manslaughter, but anything that wasn't provoked or had a cooling off period would be first/second degree murder.

From what I understand in the Louisiana revised statutes, had the victim been 65 years or older, Ward would likely be charged with first degree murder and could be looking at a death penalty case.
Even if that was the case, there is no way DA would have gone capital with this, for a number of reasons.

I meant before arraignment, not before conviction. My bad.
I thought you got the clothes only of you didn't make bail/bond.

Yeah I highly doubt it as well, but just wanted to point out the difference in LA.

Poor guy, if he was on xanax and vodka he probably has no idea this even happened.
Don't mix those two of you don't like losing hours of memory.

Used to do this in college occasionally. Had a good friend that always had a prescription of xanax (which he needed).
Definitely had to stop doing that
I would get really emotional or angry. Or I'd pass out at 8 Pm. But regardless, I'd never remember a minute of it. Scary stuff.

Just curious, how did this thread get so long, so fast?

Give me a Xanax and about 3 beers & I'm the friendliest person on earth. But no way I would've ever had the coordination or urge to get into a fight.

Lots of folks on here know the guy and his family very, very well. Several posters are close friends of his. He lived in Baton Rouge for a while.

3 beers or 1 good bourbon neat is the perfect balance with one xanax. That is melt into the couch greatness.

Maybe t can chime in, but isn't Cannazro's office known for pleaing down. This was an issue some have, because if lack of public defenders, many plea just to be released for time served, but in effect pled guilty for something they could have been freed for with litigation.

Imagine facing the possibility of spending the rest of your life in prison for something you possibly don't even remember doing. That's crazy to think about.

People offering condolences to the kid for ruining his life and not caring that he beat an old man to death.

I suspect we all have "that one night" back in college when we learned never mix Xanax and hard liquor

That's the problem with old people, you can push them down a flight of stairs and call it an accident but you can't just shoot them.
