Why does there have to be something that provokes him? Because you still don't believe he committed the crime in the way its being reported? Why do you believe he's not capable of such an act besides his background?

The old man was less than half a mile from his own apartment. As was said earlier in the thread, he's in that area all of the time and knew the area very well. I don't see how that makes him questionable.

As to why he was out at that time? If I had to speculate, I would look at the fact that he's a diabetic, and had supposedly struggled with diabetes for some time. Diabetics are notorious for having circulation issues, most notably in their extremities (legs, arms, fingers, toes, etc.). The old man might have been unable to sleep due to circulation issues, and decided to get up and walk around the area he ALWAYS walks around, where people know him. There was also other people in the stores out and he probably was friends with people who operated the local stores in the area the altercation took place.

I know my grandfather who had diabetes would wake up at all times of the night and just go to the sofa and watch tv for a few hours. Also, sometimes old people just can't sleep and the 60 year old man probably knew there would be people he knew hanging out in his usual spots.

Hell, my own dad is in his early 60s and he's been known to wake up at 3:45am and go to work because he just happened to wake up then.


Anyways, why isn't Ward's presence in that place being questioned? He doesn't live there, why was he roaming around there? What if he decided he was going to try to mug the old man in his drunken state? Who is more likely to be a mugger, a 25 year old or a 60 year old?


In the end, its highly likely neither of these individuals was trying to mug the other. I think its as simple as Ward having far too much to drink and when you mix alcohol with anger or even fear, it doesn't end very well and he just happened to come down on a frail old man that simply could not survive the damage done by Ward.


This is my speculation on the matter.
