I'd rather the movie be made by Thai producers, using Thai children, with due deference to Thai culture and the Buddhist meditation.

I really don't want Hollywood anywhere near this story.

so essentially nobody would watch it

That's not really the story people are going to latch on here though. The divers are the ones with a story to tell. The movie can just start out showing the team fleeing the floodwaters deeper into the cave and end with them coming out. Dr. Harris is about to become a world famous human being.

Yeah but their story from day 1 to day whatever it is doesn't change until the divers make an 11 hour round trip dive just to get them supplies to stay alive. The divers are the ones that should cash in.

They would obviously drama it up for the big screen. Kids have to be going through harsh psychological stress, being in the dark, not knowing if they'll be found. They could play up tension between the boys, maybe some of them start seeing/hearing things that cause them to lose it.

Hollywood will no doubt cast Idris Elba in the role.

Perfect scenario; except you left out the 2 gay boys who are initially bullied, but end up saving the others through some heroic feat.

Probably 2 movies here - one kid focused and the other diver focused.

They don't have to play that up. It actually happened.

quote:

The boys reported hearing sounds from outside, and, assuming they were not hallucinations, this means that vertical shafts that can provide access to the cave do exist.

Of course not, the movie would have to be limited to 2 hours max.

Will y’all please take your movie talks to the movie/tv board. Start a thread over there.

Every movie idea I’ve read in this thread has been awful anyways.

Thank y’all for your cooperation

OK, guys, the movie I want to have made won't give the current crop of children ideas about how hard life was when they were lost in the woods for an hour.
I want a movie that celebrates the long term relationship of the coach with the team, from his life as an orphan through his decade in the temple, to his young adult hood.
I want it to show the benefits of meditation as an alternative to going ape shite crazy. And how the group of boys had respect for each other.

Heck, in my movie, it could end with the cave divers finding them.

Your Wahlburg movie could then begin.

Dr. Harris becomes a female as well. None of the guys listen to her and her plans to save all the kids. So, of course she single-handedly saves all of them.

The romantic part is that obviously the coach will be the last to come out, opening up for a gratuitus multi-cultural cave sex scene before they emerge finally from the cave to a round of applause.

There is a cave system in Vortex Springs FL, and this is the sign at the entrance to the cave.

I dove it a couple of times back in 1978, but didn't penetrate that far, the hard core cave divers were trying to find a passage that might connect Vortex Springs and Morrison Springs which was down the road a bit. There was no cave diving certification back then, you just did what the more experienced divers were doing and tried to anticipate things that might kill you. I think a young guy from Baton Rouge died in the cave back in the 80s or 90s

I did my open water dives for certification in Vortex Springs during a hurricane that water was cold!

This is the cavern dive I did a few weeks ago (Cenote Dos Ojos).

For those interested, the difference between cave diving and cavern diving:

quote:

In cave diving, a cavern is defined as the portion of the cave which is penetrated by natural light from outside, while a cave is defined as the portion of the subterranean structure that receives no natural light from outside. Cavern divers and cave divers use many of the same strategies, however there is a distinction between cave diver and cavern diver certification. Cavern divers typically go no further than 130 feet from the entrance and always keep it within their line of sight, while cave divers often penetrate much further into the structure. Both cave and cavern divers use guidelines to ensure that they are able to make it back to the entrance safely. Cavern divers retain the ability to make emergency swimming ascents, and by definition, cavern diving is a form of recreational diving rather than a form of technical diving. Cavern divers receive specialty diver certifications from agencies such as PADI, NAUI, SSI, and SDI. Cave divers receive their specialty certifications through cave diving associations such as the National Association for Cave Diving (NADC) and the National Speleological Society Cave Diving Section (NSS-CDS), or from technical diving organizations such as IANTD, TDI, GUE, and NAUI Tech.

How would that "bend" for the ups and downs in the cave?? Sorry for the lack of technical terms.

I think that would have to be used AFTER that section of the caves. There's no way they could maneuver that through there.
