Just spoke with our friend in Negumbo, he and his family are okay. He sent pictures from his village church that we won't see in the media. Bad day all around.

Well, they are supposed to give them the chance to convert before they kill them. I only bring this up in order to post one of my favorite memes...

I just saw a video from in one of the churches. Honestly it should be played on every news station so the world sees these sick fricks for who they are.

Whoever did this will be found and dealt with. I am just so sad for all the peaceful people of all faiths we met there who just want to get along in life. Sri Lanka is one of the most laid back places we've ever seen, and the people were super friendly and helpful to us.

You gotta be a truly sick person to walk into a church and kill everyone while they are praying

A thread about Muslims killing people and you turn this into a millennial issue?

Anyone currently ages 37 to like 23 falls into that category. If you fall into that age bracket, guess what....

There’s a generation after millennials.

Sri Lanka just came out of a decades long civil war. It's not a peaceful place.

I do think it's hard to trust and accept normal Muslims as they dint seem to do enough to limit extremism. Though our big ally Saudi is where the extremists come from. (Wahhabism)

I think this is what he is referring too.

"Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful," (Quran 9:5).

I don't really get the premise of terrorism, other than a very childlike response to life by a bunch of supposed adults. It's like the locker room bullies from 9th grade P.E. got together, and decided to form a group and use religion as a prop and a driving force behind it.

I have seen tons of pictures from the BBC to the NYT this morning. The story is getting plenty of coverage so I am not sure what you are talking about.

I was kinda wondering if something would happen today in other countries. Seems like it's happening each year on this holy weekend. Sad

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply there was some sort of cover-up. I've seen video and pics on the "Spiegel" website, but the photos my friend sent were extremely graphic, and those aren't normally published in the mainstream media. 67 people died in my friend's local church, and it wasn't pretty. I hope they get to the bottom of this, and I hope more this doesn't escalate into acts of retaliation. Not trying to start a controversy, just really sad over this.
