They are working through the night. And the SEACOR Brave is right on top of the wreck housing the rescuers and essential personal. They are working around the clock. Trust me.

You think they can just pull up to the wrecked vessel and tie up and let the divers just jump in the water?

So I’m a clueless female — this is what I would have thought or along those lines. I don’t think I personally know many who work off shore.

Can you explain simply how they would go about it? Much appreciated.

They can now that that seas have calmed down. But the past couple days it would have been impossible for them to get close to the wreck without damaging the wrecked vessel or the rescue vessels. Even more dangerous letting divers in the water with those rough seas.

Things have calmed down and now they have mobilized divers, equipment and vessels to the wreck and are in full capacity.

Just read on the LP Scanner fb page that dive ops are secure for today and they’ll resume tomorrow.

I’m so sad. And sortnof getting pissed which is likely unreasonable but ...

Edit this was posted from the coast guard an hour ago.

So the divers quit for the night? What did they find?

And another question. So CG is hitting with hammers — no response. How would the guys insidenif alive “respond”??? I mean I doubt that they have a hammer with them.

According The the CH Heartland page yes the divers are done for the night. I’m reading reports of no response when they bang with hammers on the hull (is that the right term?).

The entire boat is basically a giant bell. Underwater, metal carries very well. Divers offer tap something metal on their tanks to get other divers' attention. People trapped in the wreck can often find something to bang on the hull, wall, floor, whatever metal plate is closest to them. It doesn't have to be a hammer. It just needs to be hard and have a little mass to it.

Banging on the hull is a pretty well-known way to communicate with trapped survivors of wrecks. of course, if they are trapped deep inside the wreck, or the seas are particularly noisy, the divers may not hear them.

Did they provide a reason why dive ops are done for the night?

They never heard the Nigerian tap back. Go in the fricking boat and look around. I see no rain around them and I assume the seas are decent. I cannot understand why they would stop for the night.

If they’re “done for the night” I’m guessing they aren’t optimistic.

When Macondo blew out, ROVs were working in 5,000 ft. of water to manipulate the BOP on the seabed.

First off an ROV is worthless at 50ft depth. Zero visibility, and the water temps are too hot. The electric motors on a work class ROV overheat unless they are in very cold water. That’s what they are designed for.

Second, the biggest difference is you have a human on the other end when you send down a diver. With ROV it’s just a tool. A very well insured tool, so if you lose it no big deal at the end of the day.

They’ve probably moved on to a search and recovery operation rather than a search and rescue operation

Man this is so sad. Even if there are survivors still in there I can’t imagine what they are going through. If I didn’t have a family I’d probably want to just be dead. I pray they are all together either way.

Although deep down I know they're doing everything they can...we've now graduated to throwing hammers at the hull.

Tgrbaitn They have never seen the “Poseidon Adventure “.

If I was in that hull I’d want somebody banging on the hull so I could bang back with something.

Hope it turns out this way.

Banging on the hull and being saved.

Thanks to all for answering my many questions.

And yes I would rather not be alone — at least they can help each other to stay strong. I’m hoping that if it is a recovery mission, that they pass as peacefully as possible .. my wife/momma heart is so, so very sad.

I’ve never seen it — if it’s got a sad ending don’t want to.

So .. do i watch it or not?

I am sad to hear operations ceased tonight...I was optimistic today with word (in the times picayune article) of two survivors going back into the vessel on Tuesday night. Thoughts and prayers with these men and their families.
