That’s why you build a cult of personality around the young. You reward them, give them accolades and positions of power. You provide counsel and wisdom while at the same time cultivating a deep ingrained respect and healthy fear. And when one steps up to challenge you knock him down. Hard. You punish those who would challenge with an iron fist and turn the younger generation against them.
You channel all good through your benevolence and have a secret cadre to root out usurpers.
This is actually a good storyline for something I’m working on

Imagine the scoundrels in such a world too. If a guy like Brian David Mitchell makes it through, and the strange cults that would become a normal. The definitions of words that would change overnight. God, country, state and law. Etc.
You think about the things of "what would matter" in such a world, and it's kinda hard to hate on it. Providing food, caring, teaching, living. No worries about the IRS, social media presence, political correctness, etc. Lot less noise out there, speaking of..think how things like music and entertainment would be. People finding cassette tapes and cds through makeshift solar powered player..and literally discovering art. Inspiring art. Being excited about things like that.

True monsters would come out. Looking back in history you can see the troubles that come in things like orphanages and Homes for the itinerant young. The predators are rampant. And due to the need and lack of oversight and enforcement, horrible crimes get swept under the rug.
And then you have a generation that grows up under such conditions and are warped by their experiences.

This assumes the internet goes away, which I just don’t see happening. It’s a virus, not an EMP. What you might see is millions swayed by these “influencers” like the radio evangelists did at the turn of the century.

..I dont know, if (it's that scenario) everyone over 12 dies and there are barely any adults..I can see some outages. It will all require power, and I dont see everyone figuring it out and maintaining equipment. Even the initial surviving children would starve out and not know what to do..probably only 1/3 of them would maybe make it.

Absolute terms is wrong, but the general sentiment is not dumb. It's been observed that children seem to be getting infected less, in addition to the well known aspect of it being practically uniformly less severe.
One article I read suggested that the virus might not work as well in embedding itself into children's respiratory systems.
