Yeah. Ummm...ford, could you not sell 4% of the trucks you make so that we can have spares? That makes complete logical sense

Like I said, the other option is you keep upping the offer and perks to get off the flight. You never, ever bump a paying customer that is already seated.

I certainly agree, but it also sounds like there's a max on how much they can offer, which is dumb of course.

But too many people are way too certain that United was wrong or not wrong in this thread when the truth is...who knows.

Umm, yes. Want to know why?

What are you answering yes to?

quote:

The fine print when you purchased the ticket. You will be bumped if your name is called for a must ride. You will be dragged off for not complying with the flight crew asking you to leave. The flight will leave alright, without you. The captain does not care about your situation. He/she only cares about getting that flight safely to the next stop within all company/federal policies and regulations, including must ride vs paying passengers.

And how has the public reaction been to this publicly traded company?

Now, it isn't my fault you don't know passenger rights and also not know what an airline can do if you do not follow their instructions.

raise the price.

example:
50 seats on flight. average price 500$.
50 x 500 = 25k

25k/46 available seats = 543$ per seat

done
People will absolutely bitch about a 9% increase in airfare, that's a lot.

Does Ford demand 4% of their customers pay for a truck and then not use it because one of their employees now needs it?

I mean it's pretty obvious people have an issue with overbooking policies.

There is plenty of blame to be thrown around.

Pretty sure Ford has never taken my vehicle from me

He paid for a ticket, went through security, had his ticket scanned and sat in his seat.

United then decided they needed those seats. No one wanted the non-transferable shitty vouchers so United randomly selected 4 people and told them to get fricked. This guy objected and wouldn't leave the plane, saying he had a doctor's appointment or something. United had him physically removed and literally dragged from the plane kicking and screaming.

No, but the example is the company produced those seats, now you're demanded they not sell those 4 products. That's a bit of a govt overreach.

The more I am reading about this, I am not sure if the fine print backs the airline. At least one attorney thinks United will lose.

quote:

Aviation attorney Arthur Wolk says he read all 45 pages of United’s Contract of Carriage and he believes the airline violated its own contract.

“I want to assure United Airlines they had absolutely no right to remove that man from the airplane. Absolutely no right to forcibly remove him from an airplane. They’re in trouble.”

According to Wolk, airlines can deny you a seat, but once you’re on board that’s a different story.

But, could that passenger be considered unruly?

Wolk says, “That would be a stretch. I would tell you that. If they tried that case in front of a jury, they would lose 100 percent of the time.”

I don't really see the issue to be honest. He'll be reimbursed. I already didn't fly United but it's not because of this

So I can't hold an opinion because I'm not an airline CEO?
