If I have to explain the joke then it is no longer funny, correct? Perhaps look at the subject to whom I am responding, go back and read the post I am quoting.

Your lack of humour is disturbing.

Sorry, bro. I didn't notice that you were making fun of that poster.

A $20 an hour starting wage nationwide. A 37-hour week guarantee for full-time employees. A 100 percent employer-covered health-care plan for full- and part-time workers. Credit card tipping at all stores.

Firstly, I would imagine the cost to consumer will sky rocket to cover this increase in pay and benefits.

Secondly, they really think people are going to tip on top of the newly doubled coffee prices?

I honestly hope this happens. When business declines, the same people bitching about all of this will be laid off.

that's basically poverty and starbucks tend to be in higher COL areas. lots of fast food places are paying north of $15/hour so i can see why they'd try to get $20. also, it's a proposal. of course they're going to aim high.

Did they get hired not knowing the wages?

Is anyone forcing them to stay at Starbucks?

Their Turkey Sausage, Egg, and Cheese on an English Muffin is really good with minimal calories.

You should never ask for a raise, right?

Sure you should. Especially if what you do can't be replicated by a high school kid making minimum wage.

Starbucks deals with a different consumer than MacDonalds. In theory, customer service is required for the higher end clientele at Starbucks

Starbuck clientele is pretty trashy.

I've got news for you. A significant portion of modern-day corporate America jobs can be done by just about anyone.

Not Starbucks problem. They offered a job and explained the pay for said job. Potential employee then accepted job knowing these conditions. If they are now unhappy with the wages, then make yourself more valuable to Starbucks or leave. Starbucks is not holding a gun to their heads and forcing them to work for them.

Unionization isn’t asking for a raise.

Did they ask for a raise before attempting unionization?

What makes them deserving of a raise?

that sounds great and all but all employers do is bitch about not being able to find anyone to work.

They aren't going to be able to staff starbucks at a min wage unless they just turn into 7/11 (which has been coffee these days anyway)

They will be. Right now the mommas of the world don't want their kid working a minimum wage job. We'll get over that hump soon.

Half the population is worthless. Hiring unskilled labor is an impossible task.

We live in a plug and play society, everything is systemized. Its time to move toward automation and remove some human element.
