For me its grilling steak while having a cigar or cigarette in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. Its the simple things.

Kids being potty trained is a big event and always talked about, but kids being able to buckle themselves in is a very underrated event ( especially if your car lets you know when someone isn't buckled in)
Also when they get old enough to walk on your back and you can actually feel it ( and be old enough to not use it as an opportunity to jump and land knees first)
Finding a good steak house that isn't pretentious
New tires on your car and you understand the phrase " fresh rubber" from a NASCAR broadcast
