ULM fires nursing professor who used racial slur

Mary L. Holmes was no longer listed in the nursing department directory as of 1:36 a.m. July 11. ULM social media channels don't have a statement about this at this time.
The News-Star confirmed July 7 that ULM administrators were still in the process of terminating Holmes, who was a tenured member of faculty.
On June 7, the University made a statement that administrators were aware of and investigating a screen capture being shared online that was allegedly posted by Holmes.
In the image, a comment on an article titled "Detriot rep says hydroxychloroquine, Trump helped save her life amid COVID-19 fight," stated "Thank God for our President. He takes no salary for his loyal commitment. Not like the m----y before him."
The News-Star obtained a link to the original post and was able to verify the comment belongs to the Facebook account of Mary Holmes. The news article was shared on April 7, and a screen capture of it was widely shared weeks later.

Mary may be the victim of spellcheck, it happens. She was merely pointing out that the previous president took the “MONEY” that was due him, but the current president chose not to accept it.

It was stupid as hell to say and it probably was racist, but sometimes people are called monkeys simply for being a joke or for being stupid. I understand the connotation but it's not inherently racist like the N-word
