The USSR collapsed. Lost in Afghanistan. America won on the battlefield, but lost the war at home. Russia isn't even winning on the battlefield.

Civilian casualties can’t be stopped. They can be mitigated, but never eliminated. War is hell. This is why I am hoping for a quick end here.

No I wouldn’t because Japan attacked us. If my character was similar then as it is now, I’d probably be all for going to town on the Japanese and maybe slightly more apprehensive on attacking the Nazis seeing it as a more European affair hoping that the communists and Nazis killed each other off in the East.

Who is ''we''? Are you saying we are forcing Ukraine to fight? It couldn't be they oppose Russia bombing their homes, businesses, infastructure, raping and killing their women and children, could it?
If anything we are saving Ukrainians lives by supplying anti-air systems. To intercept Russia's missles they launch at cities.
