Uber is cheaper than cabs when its not surge pricing. Fact.

Yeah uptown to airport will be about 30 I'd say or less. They aren't going to be able to pick up at airport though. YET

Is this your address?

Also, its just starting. Wait until it gains momentum, you'll be out of a job.

I bet you start driving for Uber like cabs in other cities. They all eventually see the writing on the wall. It kind of sucks though, because real Ubers don't stink like cabs and have nice drivers.

You must think I'm dumb, that's not the right street number.

Once all the cabbies switch to Uber or find new work that's when you the consumer will be screwed. Don't say I didn't warn you.

The Uber Black/SUV crowd may live without the tips if they are getting enough trips in. The Uber X crowd would be absolute dummies to not take them.

Won't we be in the same boat then that we're in now with there only being cabs?

No cuz Uber can put the surge pricing on. Cabbies fares get regulated by the city so that price gouging doesn't happen. Also all the profits for Uber go out of town and don't stay in the city. It really is a lose lose situation.

Does anyone try to tip their Uber drivers? I tried to every time at first but none of them would take the cash. I felt bad, especially for the ones that would get out the car and help with the bags.

Uber automatically adds a tip. There's no need to tip in cash and most won't take it because they aren't supposed to.

You can add a tip when you open the app after the ride. It'll ask you to rate your drive and add/not add a tip.

I'd rather open the Uber app and see "Surge pricing is 2x normal fare right now" than frantically trying to find a cab only for him to say "where are you going?.. ok that'll be.. um... 60 dollars" for a 5 minute cab ride.

Uber does NOT add a tip. That only works for uber taxi. Which is not the same as X/XL. Uber generally discourages tipping because they want everything to be cashless and they don't get a cut of cash tips.

All I've ever taken is UberX and none of them would take a tip. They all told me they weren't allowed to take it. I stopped trying because of this.

They are supposed to say no twice and only accept if passenger insists. But that's just stupid on their part to refuse.

How long have those people been driving, and where are these Uber rides located?
