If you plan to bring US currency make sure the bills are less than 5 years old and preferably in $100 denominations. You will get worse exchange rates if you don't use that rule.

- Tipping policy for food, taxis and Tuk Tuks
5-10%
- Safety
Keep on the beaten path. I found Thailand to be very safe. Do not under any circumstances look for banned substances, their laws are harsh.
- Acceptance of US currency (getting $500 in Bhat before I go)
I recommend changing enough at the airport to get you a taxi and then exchanging more in town, away from the airport. Most tourist destinations/crowded areas have currency exchange kiosks and the rates are much better than at airport, and I imagine better than your banks as well.
- Suit making
I got a nice suit made for the equivalent of 160$. Be sure to haggle hard, those guys are a dime a dozen. Be sure to get custom shirts made too.
- What you can and cant barter for.
Everything is negotiable, within reason of course. You don't want to haggle about food- bar prices or at a convenience store, but everything else is fair game.

best non-happy ending massage ever given to me was in thailand.
walked into the place and this yoda looking midget lady lays on her back and places her feet in the air and says fall back on feet. she put her feet in the small of my back and lifted me up in the air and grabbed my arms, pulling them back, and cracked what felt like every bone in my body. completely relaxed, she gave a massage with her feet that looked like powdered donuts and felt like tree bark, and it was amazing.

- Suit making
Any suit shop that promises you "same day" suit making won't be worth a damn. You'll need at least 3 fittings to get a properly made suit. You'll also want to make sure they are using quality fabric, so it will last more than a few wears. You aren't going to get a high quality suit for less than $300. There are several highly recommended shops on Sukhumvit by searching shopping on tripadvisor in Bangkok.

Also, I was reading about about the SIMcard. If you use ATT you can use ATT passport and you can pay $30 for use of limited services in Thailand. It works well for what I need it for
Yes & no. Most phones on AT&T are locked. You will have to get it unlocked to use the network in Thailand. Not a problem, but just don't assume you'll show up with your AT&T passport and it'll work.
If you are there for more than 3 days, I'd recommend the SIM card.

That was Singapore.
Thailand had the roaming death squads for drug dealers.

Where's Burt Reynold's "Thai Lady-boy" thread when you need it?

I am also actually going with my gym in November. We will be in Bangkok and Phuket. I will be fighting in one of those rings come November. I'd love to see what you are able to accomplish and see, and any tips you have when you get back. I'll bookmark this post. It's my first trip there, and I'm going to try to get a fight out there. My travel agent/gym owner is helping with all the trips locally, I'll try to find out some of the stuff he has planned for us and give you some tips. They have been going for the past 5 years.
