NOLA
One person was killed in the back seat of a truck in a fatal shooting in the Scotlandville-area in Baton Rouge Saturday (Dec. 22) involving two LSU student-athletes, according to reports from the Baton Rouge Police Department and LSU officials.
The two student-athletes have been detained for questioning regarding the shooting, Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely confirmed to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune. The call to police came in around noon on Saturday from the two student athletes, McKneely said. The location of the shooting was the 2900 block of 68th Avenue.
The two student-athletes waited for police to arrive at the scene before being taken in for questioning.
LSU confirmed two athletes were involved in the shooting and that neither were the person killed. The identities of the athletes is unknown.
“We have today been in constant contact with law enforcement regarding this terrible situation,” LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said. “Right now, our concern is for the safety and well-being of our student athletes. They have been involved in a traumatic incident and we have made our counselors available to assist immediately."

It wasn’t a current athlete, but a former athlete. My sources told me it was Steve Ensminger that fired the fatal shot. He needs to be locked up.

There is (or was) lengthy discussion about this on the Rant.
Supposedly CEH and another player went to Scotlandville to sell craiglist item (PS2) and now dead guy tried to rob him or them after he got into the vehicle.
LSU AD should ban their student athletes from that part of town unless they're competing in a sport there.

Read that it was self defense. It was a Craigslist transaction, dude pulled a gun and then Edlwards-Hellaire and the other player shot him

Some LSU players are from that neighborhood. That's a dumb place to go do a Craigslist transaction though. BRPD will let you do it in their parking lot.

How do you pronounce L'Jean? La John, El Jean?
Why are these kids transacting in Scotlandville? Nothing good ever happens there.

Sounds to me like they were being robbed and it was likely self-defense. Sad thing to have happen, particularly at this time of the year, but if that’s the case and the player was being robbed and legally had a gun, I glad he’s the one who gets to go home. I hope he takes the offer of counseling from the school. Taking a life, even justifiably, is a traumatic experience I’m sure. But on the surface it looks like the world has one less thief and has no one to blame but himself.
Hate it for the guys involved. Just hope the gun was legal.

If that is the case, clean shoot and give him a medal. Possibly key to the city.
