Probably because they’re college hockey players.

Stop downvoting me, I do not condone the action. I just think the outrage is ridiculous. Give the kid an arse whooping and move along.
Of course random people online overreact, but wheelchairs are expensive, usually costing thousands of dollars (even if covered by insurance). So damaging thousands of dollars of someone else’s property, particularly something like a wheelchair that someone with a physical disability needs to move, is not some minor thing.

I'd love to see these people transported back 40 years and try to cope with life. Andrew Dice Clay alone would kill them.

Sam Kinison was a lefty and would have given them heart attacks as well

I guess they didn’t need the wheelchair while dancing?

Um, contact the kids?
I'm sure that kid who doesn't give a shite about others' personal property would gladly take up Rog's request.

I mean I think getting the police involved before first talking to the dudes that tossed the wheelchair is a bit much here
Depends...if it's the bar who owns it, yea you may have a point.

If it actually belongs to some disabled person, by no means am I saying he should be hung, but that person should absolutely be pressing charges on him and him getting the fullest extent of the law, however much or little that is. That is 100% reasonable if you're a disabled person to involve the cops for him doing that.

You don't frick with other people's property. Full stop. Should it be a death penalty offense? Of course not. But it's not just No Big Deal, as some in this thread seem to think. Custom wheelchairs are not cheap and usually aren't bought off the showroom floor. It can take weeks or months. The person who used this chair is facing significant consequences to their mobility and wellbeing.

Anyway, the guy issued a statement. TIFWIW.

quote:

“I am deeply sorry for my behavior on Saturday," Carson Briere said in a statement released through the Flyers. "There is no excuse for my actions, and I will do whatever I can to make up for this serious lack of judgment.”

Mercyhurst, a university in Erie, Pennsylvania, said it would investigate the "disturbing video." Briere, 23, is in his third season with the team.
