Ed sheehan, great artist. Like his work. Another guy that sings r&b vocals and gets hits on pop radio, and the cross over appeal, that r&b singers of color cant get it (they get stuck on the urban/adult contemporary stations).

Yeah thats a relevant example. Its noted that r&b singers of color have been suffering in terms of airplay for the past 5-10 years. Part of it is a lack of talent (80s and 90s r&b show a boom in talent and creativity), and record execus desires to have white artist fulfill crossover appeal that black artist struggle to do. Basically, get a white guy/girl to sing r&b songs dressed up as pop and then package it to all platforms. Itll get spins on all platforms. We are seeing it with sam smith, ariana grande, etc.

Pharrell may have had one of the best years of any artist ever last year. He was the lead, a feature, or a producer on like every hit song of 2014.
Pharrell probably got more airplay last year than every prior year of his life combined.
