What does Taylor do that makes her a role model? I really dont know, and im not trying to discredit her. But i do know of a situation where she could have empowered women of color, and like many faux feminist, she dropped the ball again. Does feminism only matter when those being defended are skinny pale and blonde with blue eyes?

Earlier this year, Comso magazine, a premier beauty magazine in our country, list trends that needed to die. All of the "RIP" trends we represented by black women. All of the "gorgeous" trends were represented by white women. This is just one of many "mishaps" and "mistakes" that continues to happen. What we end up doing is driving home a message to women of color, that they are ugly, inferior and do not have the redeemable or desirable attributes white women had.
We already know how fragile and how insecure women can be about beauty. How would you feel if this was your

If I had a child, I would be a wide range of women to be role models for her, and entertainers would probably be low on the least. I wouldnt pick Taylor becauses shes a faux feminist, and may actually pick portions of Nikki persona because she tries to empower the underappreciated. But of course i wouldnt let her watch that video or rap her raps until she was out of the house

Why is it Taylors? She claims to be a gung-ho feminist. If youre gonna represent women, represent them all and acknowledge the invididual and particular struggles certain groups of women have that others dont. If not, youre just a phony that is only looking to protect the self interest of those that look like you. If thats the case, be about it.
Black female artist have been doing it, but they constantly get rejected by mass media in favor of watered down arts or arts that steal from or borrow from black arts in a disgraceful way. What does it say to little black boys and girls and other children of color if we dont recognize people that look like them and their contributions? It says that they dont matter. #blacklivesmatter.
Recognition and symbols are important. If they weren't, then we wouldnt celebrate the importance of the Hank Aarons, Jackie Robinsons, and Jim Browns of the world.

I have not, I do not listen to alot of pop. Mostly reggae and indie stuff at the moment. Yes she has that "girl next door appeal" from what ive seen, but ive also seen her to be quite confrontational and aggressive with apple and other current events.
