Same with Parkinsons.

Parkinsons will be the fastest growing neurological disease in the next 20 years.

Genuinely curious. Why do you say this?

I’m curious too. Though I absolutely believe it. I’m pretty sure there have been plenty of studies suggesting a strong link between Parkinson’s, dementia, some other deteriorating diseases, and the longterm use of benzos. And doctors prescribe those like candy.

I’m sure there are some other medications with links. GLP-1s will be good for obesity and all the things that eventually come along with that. But there will almost definitely be different side effects for long term use. If nothing else, a lot—maybe most—people use it in replace of exercise, not in addition to. And even if not obese, not exercising is terrible for you physically and mentally. Will the tradeoffs be worth it? Probably for some people. Others, not so much.

Then there’s SSRIs, Adderall, etc…that’s over prescribed. Hell, sleeping pills. None of those are supposed to be for long term use. But most doctors will just let people stay on them forever as long as the status quo is maintained. You would have to actively go in and complain about new symptoms for them to take you off of something that was made for 4-8 weeks, but you’ve been on for 8 years.

This reminds me of my old buddy Joe Kadair RIP, Chief! He went through several misdiagnoses, but never improved.

Initially some similar shared symptoms, but over time she would have had totally different conditions. There are different objective criteria you meet for MS and ALS. A competent Neurologist would spot these, but one thing they can’t do is call out crazy and tell them they don’t believe they are having the symptoms or ailments they claim.

ALS is very aggressive and she would be completely disabled in months.

ALS is on the uptick.

Don’t know if it is environmental, medication related, or just being diagnosed more. I couldn’t name one person with ALS 20 years ago, today I know 3 people my age I grew up with. Freaking scary.

Go to 5 Doctors and you will get 6 different opinions.
I'm learning why old people used to call Doctors "Quacks" & "Sawbones".

Dementia occurs in 50 to 75 percent of LOPD patients.

However dementia is rare in YOPD patients.

Some studies have pointed out that Parkinsons is partially an autoimmune disorder.

Something is causing the motor neurons to die off.

It causes muscle failure which means you are unable to move that particular limb or limbs.

An EMG is used to show the signals from your brain to your muscles as with an nerve conduction test.

If something is wrong then it can point you to problems with lower motor neuron activity. It won't diagnose you but it will give them a general idea.

I do believe these illnesses are auto immune.

This is exactly what I thought it could be. It also explains why the Ocrevus infusions didn’t help her much.
