So let me make sure I get it correct:

If Trump doesn't bring troops home, he's just a war-crazed dictator that doesn't care about the troops.

If he does bring troops home, he's a dictator that abandons his allies and it's only 50 troops so it doesn't even really matter.

Yeah you didn’t “get it correct” at all. Are you just arguing with yourself here or something?

It was mostly the claim that Turkish companies were buying cheap oil produced by ISIS on fields under ISIS's control. LINK

No, just summing up the general attitude of the tards in this thread who think no matter what Trump does, it's bad.

Keep the troops: bad
Remove the troops: also bad

Because Trump.

The poli board is strong in you, my man.

My opinion is essentially this - At best this move is fairly neutral but mostly a positive for the US and doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. At worst we've left a long-time ally out to dry in a time of need and have made yet another move in a long line of moves going back the last century to further de-stabilize the region. The reality of the situation, as often is the case, is probably somewhere between those two options. But I won't pretend to have some kind of intimate expert knowledge on the situation or what it means for the future of the region or how things will shake out from here.

Anyways, have fun raging against the liberal boogie men. You'll get them yet.

The Kurds have been our allies there for over 50 years though.

But this also isn't the first time we've abandoned them, so it's not entirely unprecedented. Though this decision seems extremely short-sighted, and if reports are true that it was a rash decision after talking with Edrogan it raises more suspicion.

I think there is absolutely an argument for us to greatly reduce our military presence in the Middle East. This move doesn't really accomplish that though. These troops were merely providing background assistance to the Kurds while the Kurds were on the battlefield. We've all but abandoned a prison holding thousands of former ISIS fighters who will likely be freed, if they haven't already.

Not really. I piss off the trumpkins just as much as I do the proggies.

It just happens that this thread (and forum in general) has a rather large population of people who suffer from a serious case of TDS.

Just like the poliboard has a large population of people that suffered from ODS.

When I see knee jerk emotional responses, I point them out.

OK. I didn't think my response was really all that knee jerk or emotional. A bit pithy, as is par for the course on an internet forum, but I qualified it with my subsequent post. So I'd say maybe you're bickering with the wrong guy.

I don’t know much about this whole thing? Any good bipartisan links out there, this might be impossible for 2019.

Ron Paul liberty report gives about as honest of a perspective on things like this (all things really)

Be wary of bi-partisan support

Maybe you should call Trump out then, because by all accounts his decision caught the military completely off guard and unprepared.

I dont understand why they just havent blown the prison up yet. Seems like a simple solution since they hate these people so much.

How have we left them to dry when we are still arming and funding them?

Because our presence there has kept Turkey from invading from the north, so they could focus their fight on ISIS to their South. Now they are vulnerable to attacks from Turkey, while also continuing their fighting with ISIS.

And "by all accounts" you mean unnamed "sources" according to Foreign Policy magazine that every other network ran with.

Which even if true gives no evidence it was an emotional knee jerk reaction.

Try again.

I want you to respond to my other post above if you haven’t yet. Most estimates in the entire country of Syria there are around 2,000 ISIS fighters, the majority being in Syrian regime area. SDF has over 40,000 fighters and YPG over 20,000. If they can’t continue to handle ISIS that’s their problem
