There is also a Copeland's on Manhattan Boulevard in Harvey.

That's Amore is on West Metairie not West Napoleon.

The parcel where Krispy Kreme is located was a single grocery store not a convenience store; I forget the last name under which it did business, but at one time it was called Phil's. When my mother-in-law was in a hurry for something she would send us to Phil's to get whatever it was. It had that typical New Orleans grocery smell, kind of like the old Zuppardo's store on Veterans.

Bridgedale is not off of West Napoleon, it runs from Zinnia Street to St. Martin's School off of Airline Highway to West Metairie which was still a shell road right there where St. Edward is, into the early 1970s. So much fail in this post.

Friend,

Darren and Debbie Kennedy's original location for That's Amore was 4421 Clearview Parkway, opening in 2008, near the corner of West Esplanade. It was the previous location for Mr. Roma and then The Pizza Gourmet, and currently home to Stella Pizza. Before it was either, it was, according to Mother, a "Cloud 9" where she got Sister's Cabbage Patch Kid in 1985.

As for the boundaries of Bridgedale, I believe when Clearview was built, Bridgedale was the neighborhood bound by what would become Clearview (some actually claim the eastern border is Houma Blvd), Transcontinental to the west, W Napoleon to the north, and Airline to the south. Later, as more people moved to the area, the parish planning commission decided that West Metairie would serve as a Mason Dixon Line of sorts. Those north of that street found themselves in North Bridgedale and those south in South Bridgedale. It seems the southerners have taken it upon themselves to claim dominion over the neighborhood's name, leaving North Bridgedalians as refugees without a name. But history does not support your premise.

I would not know anything about the Westbank. You should know better than to bring up that land. It will be difficult for you to best Uncle's and my memories.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

North of West Metairie is North Bridgedale hence the sign on Transcontinental.

Bridgedale once boasted a public library branch.

I appreciate these lists. I've been gone for a while, but I miss NOLA and think about it often. But there's so much there; I've spent time in some of these places and some of the details have gotten hazy with time.

The pictures and prose you provide in these threads bring back tons of memories. They are a great gift and I welcome many more of these lists.

I would buy a compendium style book of TulaneLSU posts right now. A tee-shirt too. Surely the brass here at TD.com could make this happen.

Friend,

Quite well. Bud’s of the early 90s was peak. Ben’s isn’t quite that good, but is much better than Bud’s today. They don’t make cows like they use to make them. TulaneLSU’s Top 10 items at Ben’s.

Be sure to prepare for the coming ScADVENTure hunt this winter, kind friend.

Yours,
TulaneLSU
