I have a top 10 list of the trashiest Walmart Christmas decorations with pictures, but I don't know if the board is ready for it.

Excellent question. I hadn't noticed that.

What I do is purchase leftovers at the Walmart after Christmas sale, which is 75% and eventually 90% off. I got two of those manger Jesus figurines last year and a Joseph for 80 cents. It will take several years to build a full manger set, but the cost savings are worth the wait.

Did you put your shopping cart up or just leave it in the middle of the parking lot?

Funny you ask because the shopping cart was actually an issue. I initially entered Walmart this morning for the sole purpose of browsing its stately aisles. I realized I needed some chicken broth to make soup this weekend, since it will be cold tonight and my heater is not working. Sidenote: buying the smaller 32 oz Great Value Brand chicken broth is 3.8 cents per oz. If you buy the larger 48 oz Great Value Brand chicken broth it is 4.1 cents per oz -- all the more reason to watch the prices, as Walmart and Sam's often charge higher prices for the bulk item.

In any event, I went to grab a basket in which to put the chicken broth and realized you had to exit the store in order to get a basket (never would I steal another person's basket, as has happened to me on occasion). With the new design of Walmart, exiting without going through a cashier line is a difficult task. There are now gates on the former exits, which are only exits during emergencies. This situation was quite the pickle for me, so I decided not to rock the boat, and just carry eight of those 32 oz cartons to the register. That's right -- I had no basket to return today. When I do have a basket, I return it to the front of the store before waiting for the bus.

OK, I'll bite. What soup recipe requires eight 32oz cartons of broth?

I only make a trip to Walmart once weekly, as round trip bus fare is an economical, yet still, for me, prohibitive, $2.50. I wish I was at a point where I could lavishly travel the city, carefree of transportation costs. But alas, a dreamer's life is blessed by imagination and freedom, not financial riches. I will likely make a potato and leek, broccoli and cheddar, and gumbo with that broth. I hope it will last me a week.

Tulane, years ago I started building a Christmas city. Home Depot used to have a certain brand with a bunch of options. They had a courthouse, church, a market, houses, library, etc, etc. They also had an electric train set that was part of it. Every year I would add to it.. Then one year Home Depot stopped selling them, I looked online and the company went out of business or something. That pissed me off.

Nothing says "Nacimeinto de Resina" quite like this.

Somewhere, St. Joseph is happy.
