Trying to figure out if I need a new frig or outlet

My modem and frig are plugged into the same outlet in the garage. I've noticed the frig totally stops running, but when I press the test/reset button on the outlet, it will come back on. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The internet never goes out, even when the frig does, even though they are both plugged into the same outlet. Do I need to buy a new frig or call an electrician?

Does your modem have a battery backup?

Well, a new receptacle is certainly cheaper. It is strange that you would not lose Internet though. Do the lights on the modem stay on?

Know how to use a multimeter?

You know those little holes can fit your pecker.
Give it a whirl big guy.
Report back.

No, and I don't have a clue as to what that is.

This is a GFCI outlet. The reason you need one is for outlets near water or outdoors. You may have something plugged in an outdoor outlet that gone bad. Unplug anything you may have in your outdoor outlets, and try again. The ATT modems can have a backup battery.

You thought about plugging it up to a different outlet?

No, I haven't considered moving the refrigerator into the house to try a different outlet, nor will I. I only have 1 outlet in the garage.

Eh, then I'd let your husband look into it.

The only things plugged into the outdoor outlet are the AC units.

What about running an extension cord from the house to the refrigerator in the garage to plug it in?

I was about to suggest that, but thought is was so obivious that I was missing something.
