As for navigation and entertainment, in dash tab with back up cam and front cam for safety under 5mph.
Do some pricing, it is SHOCKING what you can get classic vehicles with modern tech for.
you arent going to get that as new or piecing it together new yourself for anywhere near 25k. You could buy it from someone else who blew a bunch of money and get that, but you could also do that with a newer suv as well.
the geometry, weight, and suspensions of many newer vehicles will kill and old one, offroad( Stock vs Stock, Aftermarket vs aftermarket)

Hammer, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the motor in the 04 essentially the same in the newer bodies. I have an 01 right now that hasn't given me any mechanical troubles I'm just looking to upgrade to the newer body style and a crew cab

Buying a new car/truck/SUV is stupid IMO. Especially today, with so many over-priced "luxury" brands/models. Buying new is the quickest way to lose 30-50% of your money in a single day - a typical decision by those destined to be in their same (or lower) financial class for life.

That must be why I bought an F150 FX2 brand new in 2012 for $29,300 then got rid of it 2 years and 31k miles later for $25,500. Boy, that sure was dumb of me. ETA: And you've clearly not tried buying a 2-3 year old SUV. They hold their value very well all things considered.

okay, and it will be more than 30-50% less than paid for it. no need to exaggerate with number like that. all vehicles depreciate for the most part new or used. However some dont either(New or used), but those are minor examples.
if vehicles depreciated 30-50% the same day, there wouldnt be a new car market at all

Buying a new car will have immediate depreciation but then the depreciation curve goes flat for quite a while

Who needs to finance 25k?
Progressive will insure it and you can add however much aftermarket insurance you like. I carry 10k on my daily driver.
With most of the parts being new, that's easier than you might think.
They drive better than the only straight axle suv offered.
As for finding them, every few months I spot one that fits the bill.
If building one, you can certainly build for less if you shop slowly. If you start with a good base, there are a lot of parts you can keep.
It wasn't meant to be an argument, just highlighting a viable alternative to the new car purchase.
My personal obsession happens to be the lexus rigs. One of the best values in the 4x4 world if street manners still matter.
