predictions crude prices won’t go much higher than $60 a barrel in the next year compared with around $50 recently

In response to the OPs article, when oil gets back to the 60s and is able to maintain that price, offshore will be slamming.

The caveat is land causing the price to come back down.

Same here, but it sure as hell is affecting my family in Lafayette.

I did not get an email from you.

Not to mention the fact that the petroleum industry and its non-degree jobs offers a career for those who don’t or can’t go to college. I agree this state is woefully behind on economic diversity, but what do you think all these folks will do without those oilfield opportunities? Not everyone can or should have a degree. The oilfield gives them a place to work- just like the industrial plants.

We need more skilled industrial workers in the state and the jobs that go with it.
I bet if you asked the heads of industry what the biggest factors are for keeping major companies from opening places in La, lack of skilled workers is right up there with stupid fcking politicians.

Yeah, we can all dream/hope that the white collar jobs will show up one day, but it's not happening anytime soon. Use our rivers, rails, roads, and natural resources to our advantage and do what we can for now to make the best of things.

You must own a fast food restaurant.

How am I supposed to pay the note on my 70k vehicle that I financed at 9% interest? This is Obama's fault.

Eventually it touches everyone, particularly when people start walking away from houses and real estate values drop, office inventory goes up.

A lot of the old floaters and drillships are heading for the boneyard. They’ve been replaced with the Hyundai drillships out of South Korea. I’m on the Black Lion right now...

All you guys talking shite about the oilfield and the people who work in it.... do you not realize Louisiana and every business in it lives and dies off of the oilfield industry . College ain't gonna matter jack if the oilfield is dead . The company you work for is gonna be suffering just like everyone else . So you're screwed just like the rest of us , come on down off of that high horse fellas cause we are all in the same boat lol

Yep. I hate it, because I want to move back to Louisiana. But the economy is shite compared to all of the surrounding states, and there aren't any construction jobs that pay with a damn. If I moved back, I'd probably have to take a $11-14/hr paycut. And I'm not in an expensive West coast city. I'm in fricking Arkansas.

I agree. Coming out of school companies in TX are paying 10-12% more than companies in BR. Factor in that I don't have to pay for private school (or additional wear and tear on a car from driving into town everyday) and it made the choice to move pretty simple.

See it doesn't. Walk away from a house, close an office it does not affect me. You? Maybe. Many other people? Sure. Everyone? No.
