Way too expensive to produce compared to onshore assets, especially given current oil prices.

You mean BECAUSE of oil prices. That is the sole reason. If oil were even 20 bucks more there would be exploration instead of closures

Good. Louisiana’s lack of incentive to diversify its economy is the reason we’re broke as frick right now that oil is down.

Oil is great to have, but we’ve become lazy and dependent on it. West Virginia is to Coal as Louisiana is to Oil Field. Our kids don’t bother staying in school because they can go off and make 60k at 19 being a ‘roustabout’

Then, when they’re laid-off, it’s “poor me, wut em I posed tu do now?” Victim mentality.

Let the shite crash. Maybe gladhand politicians will stop letting Houston-based oil companies pimp our gulf and coastline for a back door payoff. Let it burn to the ground and rebuild something stronger; Tech, trade, etc

Beats sitting at home watching your wife get railed by chad or jody.

uh, there are a lot of states that don't have oil revenue. And make it just fine. Due to folks with college degrees

Perhaps the reliance on this industry, has kept La from prospering in other areas.

So you're screwed just like the rest of us , come on down off of that high horse fellas cause we are all in the same boat lol

I had enough sense to take my Louisiana educated arse to Dallas. Tons of Louisiana/LSU people over here.

I'm not hating on the oilfield. Just the people that scoff at getting degree over going work in the oil patch.

It was built in 1998. In this market, a new build at a reduced price is going to drill before Pathfinder ever would.

Man usually you'd think of the oil field as trashy but these two dicks that are elated that O&G is suffering in Louisiana have taken that title today.

Diversify into what? Lack of education and corrupt politics basically gutted Louisiana from any chance at a healthy economy.....not oil.

Look at Houston and Dallas. They used oil money to build prosperous cities that then diversified once they had an educated workforce. They didn't let it minimize the scope of their economy. State of Louisiana fricked that up, not the fact that the oil industry existed. That's fricking stupid logic.

I agree with this. I work in Texas in big fancy offices, with the engineers and high level managers all making 250k, driving luxury cars and living the life. And every single physical operation actually takes place in Louisiana.
