Sounds like you have a mild form of dysphagia. I would see a MD soon. Until then, try a pureed diet and add thickener to your liquids.

It’s a condition it’s actually more common than you would think. Happens to me all the time. You can have a procedure but it will probably happen again and again. You lean to live with it. Eat slow don’t force it back up when it gets stuck you just have to wait. Go for a walk usually helps

This exact same thing happened to me. Twice I actually thought I was going to die. It was attributed to acid reflux. You can have acid reflux without the regurgitation into the esophagus. So you really don’t know you have acid reflux.

The doctor did an endoscopy with biopsies. The endoscopy showed that my esophagus was swollen and red. He put me on a prescriptive gel like substance to coat my throat daily for 6 months. A follow up endoscopy was done and my throat was much better.

The doctor put me on acid reflux medicine and I have not had any problems since..

Dude. Have you had any neck or head trauma within the past few weeks? Any headaches?

I had something similar about a year ago. Started having migraines shortly after my shallowing problem. Went to the doc. We figured out it was due to some whiplash trauma I got after, of all things, riding the Hulk coaster at Universal. About 2 weeks before had I the swallowing issue I had been at Univ and I remember my first ride on the Hulk I had a severe acute head pain. Each ride after that it was more mild but still acute and disorienting. Doc said my issues probably stemmed from that.

Did a lot of neck exercises, muscle relaxers and the migraines got better over a month or so. The swallowing issue went away after about 4-6 days.

Some of the shite you idiots decide to post on here instead of going to see an actual doctor is seriously mind boggling

I don't think you realize the difficulty and expense that many of see from "going to see an actual doctor" with many of the health plans that we have available today.

My dad had a similar situation where he had to have his esophagus stretched out with a surgical procedure.

My dad had the same thing. He would start choking while eating dinner and run to the bathroom to vomit and it would be all over.

He was having these spells 3 or 4 times a week. His doctor told him it was acid reflux and put him on nexium and it helped for a while. But he kept having episodes so he got his esophagus stretched. I don't think it's permanent because he has had it done a couple more times over the past 10-12 years or so.

The word "squeezing" into stomach in the description. That sounds the most like what is going on, it feels and felt like the lower part of my esophagus died.

I just thought it was the esophagus ring, as that is pretty static so no response in that area.

That's one of the end stages of Covid-19. No need to see a doctor. Thoughts and prayers to you and your loved ones.

I had a procedure done about 10 years ago where, after a battery of tests to confirm achalasia, they went in and cut the muscle at the base of my esophagus then looped it over and loosely tied it back to prevent acid reflux.

It’s called a heller myotomy and a dor fundoplication.

Get to a doctor. It’s not common in young people at all. My quality of life was incredibly better after the procedure.

Seems like everything gets stuck at the bottom of my esophagus. When this happens I can't even drink water as it feels like I'm drowning. A few times I resorted to forcing myself to throw up to push the food sitting on top the esophagus ring up and out.

I never have acid reflux, stomach or esophagus pain.

This is exact thing happened to me last week. Three straight days when I was eating dinner this exact thing happened to me. Then it just stopped happening.

Don't have any advice, only thing that I can tell you after those 3 days it hasn't happened again.

Go see a doctor and then a speech therapist. Don’t be an idiot.
