Not a horrible morning on St George Island

I'm not far away, it's been pouring all morning. 4+ inches so far. Lots of people with boats and RV's and Georgia plates headed home. More than normal even for a Sunday morning.

I disagree. Sitting down here at the end of West Pine watching it rain on my boat - gonna be Wednesday at best before we might have a chance to go offshore. This time of year is usually great weather here - drew a shitty card on this trip. Still, Island time beats real life. Where ya staying?

The forecast has it strengthening over land. Is there a reason for that? Seems highly counterintuitive.

It's turning extratropical. Which means it is becoming more like a springtime low pressure that feeds on temperature differences. So it can get stronger over land because it's not really running on a tropical process at this point.

The event that shall not be mentioned still looks possible across Iowa, Illinois, and Northern Missouri. Would be an overnight event, to boot. The HRRR is developing a nasty line and winds are looking legit.

My experience was from the more widespread 2016 flood and it took the adjuster a couple weeks to get there. So no way we could have waited anyway. We were already done with remediation phase by the time he showed. Take plenty of pics and video at every step. Still he barely looked at those. Still had debris in the front yard. I did keep the cabinets in for him to see but he told me I could have already removed them. And they covered all my cabinets, top and bottom. But I’m not saying they always will. Just nice to have them match.

Survey crews are currently out investigating the Brewton, AL tornado. So far damage has suggested the tornado was EF-2 intensity in eastern Brewton. These results are preliminary and the survey is still ongoing.

Our hearts are heavy today as we've learned of 2 fatalities last night in Tuscaloosa Co when a tree fell on a mobile home. Rescue efforts continue in Jefferson Co for a man believed to be swept away by flood waters. Our thoughts & prayers go out to these families.

A mobile home park in Northport (next to Tuscaloosa) got severe flooding after nearly 10 inches of rain.

Meanwhile, Claudette has reformed as a tropical storm while still centered over land in North Carolina.
