Wife and I are supposed to be going to Galveston Friday morning. I know the storm will be in Arkansas by that time, but what do you think the flooding will be (if any) in Houston or down towards Galveston? She is worried and doesn't want to make the trip.
At this time, serious flooding in that area is pretty unlikely. Like Duke said a page or two ago, you'll have plenty of time to know if the rain is going to be at a flash flood level by Friday morning.

Is that a little more eastward?

Landfall around Lake Charles is good for south LA in general? Besides parts around New Orleans on east?

So we're supposed to drive from Destin to Houston tomorrow...will this drive be manageable?

There's only one way to find out.
Sorry booze talking. I'm thinking tomorrow morning will be pretty bad

My "pucker" factor has gone down a little after listening to Jay Grimes.
The same Jay Grimes that said Katrina wouldn't amount to much?

Ha no prob, just really can't decide what to do about the drive with kids and stuff. Risky but not sure what other options.....anyone own a condo in destin they want to rent for a couple days???

I need to get from LC to Houston tomorrow... not sure it will happen if I don't get going early enough.

You need to pay attention to reports coming out of Pensacola, Mobile, and into the Mississippi Coast. Flooding will be the concern over that way. It'll be a breezy drive and rainy, but doable otherwise.

These threads should always start with a festivus style airing of grievances.

Yeah leave really early. My son is going to make that drive sometime Thurs, but that's subject to change.
