The wife spoke about a new med that he was taking for three days that he was reacting negatively to, so he stoped taking it yesterday. They were going to try no meds it seems and see if TMS treatment would help. Reading that Facebook page is intense.

I've been in bad spots before but I couldn't imagine what nonstop suicidal thoughts would be like for decades.

I really feel bad for his extended family that they know this happened. On top of it his dad offed himself too. Awful.

I'll never understand suicide

Same thing happened in Shreveport area last weekend. Grandfather killed his wife, son, 2 year old granddaughter and then himself. Hard to fathom.

I had never heard of a family annihilator until Alex Murdaugh. Tragic phenomenon.

Most psych meds take a while (at least a week or two) to start being effective. Sounds like they have been through the mental health system for a while so surely they would both know that.

That is about the worst idea they could have come up with. The majority of violent outbursts involving mental health happen when people go off their meds without medical supervision.

Incredibly sad story.

Unfortunately I’ve seen the negative effects of someone that stopped medication.

Dude was struggling. Prayers.

I've been up there to play golf, that's like 70% of the population of Dawson County.

He was a running back in high school football. It is possible that some kind of brain injury is related to his terrible mental illness.

I’ve been forced to go ‘cold turkey’ on meds a few times.

One time a doctor simply didn’t send in a new refill request and went on a two week vacation….and the doctor covering his patients ‘didn’t feel comfortable’ sending in a refill request (FOR MEDICATION I WAS CURRENTLY TAKING).

Another time I was having really bad side effects to a medication….was causing very vivid dreams, I would like blackout when I got out of bed, I would find myself cleaning the bathtub or stove not knowing how I got there…..started hearing men talking outside my window which had me going out there with a gun, just to find nobody there…the medication would also kind of ‘stop’ my brain (I know this all sounds like a contradiction but it happened)…. I have an overactive brain so to not have racing thoughts was fricking insane to me. Well the doctor told me to stop the medication cold turkey and would talk to me at the next Dr visit. Once I was off the medication all of the side effects stopped which was great but my brain was seemingly trying to make up for lost time with how fast it was spinning. My dad found me outside sitting on a trailer that I was trying to fix for him crying because I couldn’t stop my head.

It’s because you’ll never understand the battles inside of someone’s mind. When things war inside of your head sometimes you feel the need to concede.

Killing your family is one thing, but stabbing them to death while they die a slow painful death is next level psycho

Everyone died from a knife? That must have been an unbelievably horrific and bloody murder scene.

Prayers for all these people. This is so awful.

This girl that I dated in HS was stabbed to death by her oldest son, who also killed his brother before himself. When I first heard the story all I could think about for the days was the shock, terror, and pain of dying that way, by the hand of someone that you birthed and raised. It’s hard to wrap your mind around stuff like this. I regret opening this thread.

Mental health issues. I guess the wife had a FB page on the husband's mental health issues with suicide and he just got released from inpatient mental health 2 days prior
