Because people are buying up everything, whether they need it or not. On the production side, hens can only lay so fast.

Well I don't know what those moms are buying, but they have great meat specials. Their pre-cooked dinners, except the chicken salad, are all very affordable. Vegetable prices are the same as rouses. Sounds like you've never actually been there.

Eggs at Sprouts run around $3.49 to $4.99 a dozen depending on what’s on sale. $6.00 for a dozen isn’t outrageous if you are already paying those prices. Big picture - even at $6, that’s 50 cents per egg. What a bargain to be able to pay so little for so much nutrition!
During the first couple of weeks of the panicdemic, Sprouts stopped their sales on meat and ground beef was approximately triple the normal price.

I went to Target on Millerville last Sunday, not all that busy. The meat section had a little more selection now that people aren't panic-buying it as much (grabbed a couple packs of bacon) but you still couldn't find a paper product to save your life.

An 18 carton around here is usually like $2.50. A dozen is $1.50 or so.
My wife bought eggs yesterday at Reeves on in BR and didn't mention them being overly expensive.
She did say most of the meat was full price and they usually have sales every weekend.

Foods still fairly inexpensive here, but a roll of toilet paper is nowhere to be found.
