Have you tried going to bed 4 hours before you need to be up?

Start getting up at 4am and going to the gym
This is what I'm trying to stop doing.

It would be nice to sleep until 6am once in a while.

Sometimes insomnia can be due to unseen stress and anxiety. Meditation is effective at reducing both. There are tons of apps for easy guided meditations.

This. I thought that shite was all bullshite. But I got to a point I would try anything. I put a guided mediation video on YouTube and played it when I got in bed. It had me sleeping fast. They have 10 hour videos Incase you wake up. But I’ve never woken up during one.

ETA: I think I’m crazy because now I use background ambiance of a battle going on. Artillery and gunfire. One is a Vietnam version and it has shouting of both American soldiers and Vietnam-Cong.
If you use one of those, make sure you use earphones if you are around some vets. Don’t want Uncle Joe having flashbacks.

Problem drinkers start experiencing withdrawals after 3-4 hours. Causes a lot of anxiety. Wakes people up in their sleep, usually for about two hours and then they go back to sleep (about the time they should probably be waking up). You probably don’t drink often if you’ve tried common tips for better sleep because that’s probably #1 or #2.
I don't drink at all.

I have issues going back to sleep when I have to get up around 4am and take a leak. This has been a fairly recent development. Getting old sucks

used to have a similar problem. Something is stressing you out. Eliminate that. Mine was work related. Also exercise helps a lot. I get at least 3-5 miles in per day.

I assumed you did not. Some people don’t actually need more than four or five hours to sleep. I am pretty groggy if I get more than that. Some probably have that experience if they take long naps and wake up feeling groggy. That’s the way I feel if I go to bed for eight hours.

Have you tried adjusting the temp in your house?

I’ve been waking up earlier since I’ve quit setting my ac so low at night
When it’s cold in the house I sleep great & don’t want to wake up
Noticed a difference in waking earlier with temp set 2 degrees higher

I think I'll try this. I've tried all the other [serious] suggestions. I exercise daily, eliminated caffeine, don't drink, tried melatonin and/or weed. Nothing works.

I'm not actually tired or anything. I'm just constantly reading how too little sleep is bad for your overall health so it makes me paranoid and I'm just sick of laying in bed trying to sleep.

This happened to me in Jan 2019. I would go to bed at 10 and then be wide awake at 1am and than i just laid there until 5. Melatonin and Teas will help you go to sleep but they wear off after a couple hours. I don't know you, but for me it was stress related. Once i got past my stress issues, i was back to normal.

One thing you could try is exhausting yourself. In the evening, go walk or run a few miles and eat a light dinner. Find some heavy construction projects around the house or backyard you have always wanted to do and do them. Wear down your body and you will sleep.

We don't have AC because it usually drops to the 50's at night during summer.

Same here. I'm so obsessed with sleeping I'll toss and turn concerned that I'm not sleeping enough... so therefore, I don't get enough sleep.

I had that too....establish a routine, cut out sugars and trash.

EXERCISE...like every day, not just cardio but lift weights.

Body will start staying asleep for longer to repair itself

Not saying you're gonna get the 8-10 like when you were young, but 6-7 solid.

Weed/pills just kick the can down the street for another day....although its nice every now and then :)

I take ZzzQuill every night along with some CBD oil. I sleep much better through the night now and if I do wake up my mind isn't racing and I can get back to sleep.

I’ve found some success in chamomile tea before bed. I’ve also used a lavender and chamomile blend. Meditation helps too.
