Theres a scene in The Sopranos where they’re in Italy and the Italians make fun of Paulie for wanting spaghetti and tomato sauce. Made me laugh. Paulies idea of what Italy would be was so off.
Hey Tone, you give this guy a golf club he'd probably try to frick it.

I just came back from Dublin and they couldn’t have been nicer. However I’ve heard Italians and French are assholes especially in the big cities.

It’s probably just you.

when I first started going there on a regular basis, about 50 years ago, I was surprised how bland real Mexican food was
I’ve never actually been to Mexico but we had some seasonal Mexican workers on a fish harvest crew and the stuff their wives cooked would make your butthole burn like the heat of a thousand suns about 4 hours later

Classic OT post. Acts like the authority on real Mexican food, never stepped foot in the country.
That’s like saying the US’s food is spicy because you had crawfish. Mexico is a big place baw

Well, where were you? Did you eat the cuisine of the region or did you order what you think of as Italian food?
Yeah, I’m getting the impression of a lot of people here being in a very touristy area and hitting up restaurants with pictures on the menu and special English menus and then coming back home and saying that the food wasn’t so good.

I mean they told me that’s how the food is there I just took them as the experts
My dad used to go to Juarez a lot back in the day he said the food there was a lot hotter.

Isabella in that episode was so fricking hot

Juarez is 700 miles from Mexico City.
“The food in the US in bland because I heard someone ate at a ponderosa in Iowa city”

You may also be used to the south, where people treat each other kindly in public.
But like shite, on message boards.

This is the only one I disagree with. I always tip people. Especially abroad.
This is totally taking American culture to the world. In my experience, there are more productive approaches to interfacing with other people in their culture.
Most places DO NOT tip like in US.
Just this week, I am with a Singaporean in US. They needed my help navigating local U.S. tipping culture.
Juxtaposed to your approach (I take MY culture to other cultures), this person adapted to local culture. A good approach, IMO.

You seem to make conclusions with very limited information. If you knew me on personal level, you would have different conclusion.
Critical thinking is really really really lacking in this country. A case in point right here.

I love when people who've been nowhere further than Bunkie speak about nothing they know anything about.
I work for international energy company for 30+ years and am presently typing this from a continent that does not include a city named Bunkie.
Beware of your awareness.

Real italian food is disappointing.
Say what?
How much time and across how many places in Italy did you make this conclusion? Like, a lot? Really enough?
For real.

I travel internationally for work several times a year.
