I grew up in a dry county in the state of Georgia. I got invited down to visit BR with a friend of a friend for one weekend during the spring and was amazed that they were selling handles of liquor behind gas station counters. Being able to get into certain bars while only being 18 too was unheard of so so that trip pretty much sold me on going to LSU.

The influence “ghetto culture” has on south LA is out of control.

Everywhere you go you’ll see more kids and even adults who imitate the ghetto culture.

The WalMart on Highland Rd was my go to while in college. You’d see the Queenz paying with EBT while their kids are wearing Beats headphones. Just another WTF moment in BR.

As a NOLA boy in his freshman year at LSU, I was shocked when I was told I couldn't leave the bar with my beer. Last call at 2am took me by surprise and I had to ask my buddy what the hell was happening and why everyone was leaving.

Same. I’m sure many others feel the same way as well. We went to Tuscaloosa in 2017 and made the mistake of bringing one person under 21 so the whole group was fricked & couldn’t get into bars on the strip. At one point a few in the group said frick it, were going in. We didn’t go all that way to not check out their bar scene a little.

The minor bitched the whole time about how Tuscaloosa sucks cause it’s not like Louisiana where you can go get drunk at 18 in bars LOL

1. I really had only heard old people say the N word. I started at LSU, and I heard pretty much daily the first few weeks. I was blown away.

2. I went to a dinner in houma. The person next to me found a squirrel head in their jambalaya.

This was in 1991-92.

The sheer number of people that went to private school for high school especially middle class and up. Private school in north LA is the exception, not the rule considering the two prominent privates in Shreveport were Evangel and Loyola...they 1A and 2A by population.

And in New Orleans it was the first time I had heard of not liking a bar because of "too many high school kids" in reference to The Boot.

That's weird, I grew up in the South, lived there 32 years and rarely heard it. Must be the type of folks you hang out with

I lived in the south for 27 years, and really the only time I regularly heard the N word was 1991-92, when I was a freshmen on LSU campus.

The people I know from Lafayette & Nola say it all the time. The people I know from rural north LA don’t say it.

Also, there’s a lot of racists at LSU. Rich entitled private school kids are just as racist as the country bumpkins.

You could try raising your kids right where they aren’t demon spawns? Might work.

From my experiences, country people from the sticks aren’t as racist as people make them out to be. The ones from cities are the worst.

Had you never been to a normal tailgate before?

50+ miles and you chose Breaux Bridge? You literally could have chose 50 miles in any other direction and not dealt with the bullshite basin bridge.
