Let an express drain and fill the transmission fluid. It is a messy hassle.

No more messier or hassle than changing the oil.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I was unable to answer earlier.

I'm not a chick.

The fluid was last changed around 78000 just before I got the car, and it's now at 134400 miles. Engine oil has been regularly changed. I thought about just emptying and refilling because I heard that a flush on older cars could break the trans, and I've heard that it's a racket, too. But it's a great car and I want to do right by it. $350 is freaking steep and Christmas tapped me pretty bad and overtime is down for me.

I guess maybe just draining and refilling would be good for now, then go the distance when I get the money. I hope this won't break anything...

Placebeaux, not sure about the A, but the 1 means oil change (and tire rotation?) and the 3 means transmission fluid. On my phone so I can't link.

Thanks everyone for the replies! The 07 is a great car and I've read that the newer models are not as reliable. Not like I could afford a new one anyway, but I'd get another 07 to 2011.

well, its got a drain plug. OP needs to just drain it and fill it back up with Acura or Honda tranny fluid(they're the same)

He was talking about transmission. I have an 06mdx. Does not have a plug for the transmission. It does have a pan. I drop the pan, dump the fluid in it and clean it and the magnet inside. Op should do this. If you flush it you risk all that shite circulating in your transmission.

I own an'06 TL, the transmission filter is not in the pan, take off drain plug, after add 3 qts. of Honda/Acura fluid. Don't use any other fluid but Honda. Oil change, take it anywhere respectable....
Google is your friend, very good Acura web sites

If you drain the pan, you only get about 1/2 of the fluid in an automatic transmission. It should be flushed, so ALL the fluid is replaced. Google Youtube on how to do it.
