If you think you stopped, then fight it. If you are not sure, you should be able to see the evidence against you - if it was recorded on dashcam.
If you go to court, you may be able to enter a plea that will allow you to have a reduced offense, expungement after a certain time, take a driving class, etc. Depends on where you live.
On the other hand, if you lose, you will have court costs added onto it.
In Orleans Parish a couple of years ago I got caught for speeding in a school zone for a school that had been closed for 8 years. Total BS. I decided to fight it.
Went and entered my plea, was given a date to come back.
Realized the ticket costs went from like $240 to $675 due to imposition of court costs. Swallowed hard.
Day of "trial", I showed up in a nice suit. Had my defense ready, copies of the relevant ordinances, etc. When my time came up, they called me up. They called the officer up. Officer was not there. They told me they would try to call the officer and to have a seat.
20 min later, they called me back up, said they could not find the officer, dismissed the charge, have a good day. Never even got to say my piece!!

Both involve representation so there's no difference
Sounds as if you pulled one of those "California stops"

Pay up. I don't know why people seem to think traffic tickets aren't real crimes. They are doing their jobs at keeping our roads safe.

I was driving home (3 mph below speed limit) and got to the stop sign [,didn't come to complete stop,] then turned onto the street. Next thing I know I am stopped by the police. Apparently it was for "Failure to obey stop sign".
In order for traffic laws to be effective, they have to sting a little. We've all been there. When they hit you in your wallet, it has a way of sticking with you - for years.

True story - a friend got one of these with the photo of license plate. He said it just didn't look right. After staring at it for a minute he saw the problem. Same license plate number but car was from another state. He went to try to clear it up, was assigned a judge, and only after the judge sent him to the parking lot with a bailiff, did he get it taken care of. He said it was obvious after pointing it out but it took him half a day at the courthouse to get it resolved.

Yoi can go to court....plead guilty and ask the judge to drop the court costs and/or give you more time to pay.
Happens alot.

Pay up. And quit breaking the law.

You committed a violation. You do owe the ticket.
That being said, $240 is pretty outrageous for a rolling stop. I've never heard of a ticket so high that doesn't involve excessive speed or reckless driving.

quote:I recently bought one. Very inexpensive and tech-friendly. Insurance companies should offer reimbursement for them.
To be honest, I want to see what's on the dash cam myself. Thanks. And yeah I will ask about the non-moving violation
Don't want someone to lie and say something not true, should there be a wreck -or "wreck" cause a friend had an african america on woman in front of him a stop sign and tried to say he "bumped" her. Cops called, checked it out. Not a sign that the vehicles touched but she held ground. Few days later there WAS a mark but. the cop specifically remembered it not being there on first inspection.

Even better
Get drunk, go to court, accuse the cop of not doing his job

not trying to bump but to answer you.
I agree with you in that I should pay something. However
Is why I am looking for an attorney. I would rather pay a premium since the town notoriously charges so much. I was not speeding or being overly reckless (ie the ticket itself shows I was under limit and has no mark in 'reckless driving' section.) If it was 150 or so , I would just pay it off.

I hope you are able to get it resolved.
That is a ridiculous price to pay for that small an infraction.

Well did you come to a complete stop or not?
Pay the damn fine. Just call the DA and ask if there is anyway to reduce it or not have it go on your record if you pay it.
I have that done that for 3 speeding tickets and got them all handled that way. They just want the money.
