a low end 4WD model for 40k doesnt seem that bad to me, especially considering that "low end" models these days have ten times more shite than my fully loaded 1999 Lariat.

YEAH! It really sucks to have more options baw. This is proof that people will find some way to complain about anything.

my 2011 Trail Edition has 119,000 miles and still going strong.
thinking if it ever gives up the ghost, an SR5 with 4WD would be the way to go. i can always switch out the wheels, give it an aftermarket lift, etc.
most i would probably spend was the TRD Off Road/Off Road Premium.

I had the 2007 Sport Edition and now the 2018 TRD Off Road.
I was thinking I would look to buy a new one this time next year, but I don't know if I'm going to stay with the 4Runner with the new engine.
I'll probably just drive my '18 until it won't drive anymore and figure out what to buy then.
