Wife has a 200 LC. It’s worth more than I paid for it in July certified pre owned. It’s a tank for sure.
I grabbed a ‘21 recently. My plan was to get one in a few more years, but the news pushed my hand. I drove one for work when overseas and started saving for one then. Won’t lie, feel like I paid an extra $15-20k for the nameplate, but I plan to keep it 15yrs. Loved my 4Runner and it was 1/2 the price.

Toyota ruined the Land cruiser years ago

Awesome. Was planning on getting one that was either new, or only a few years old in about 5 years. But obviously with this news that’s a no-go. Plan was to give my 100 series to my son then I get a newish one.
But with kids in school and other expenses there is no way to jump up the time table. Just flat out can’t afford it. Hopefully in about 5 years I can hunt down a relatively low mileage 200 series that was maintained well. If that’s the case I have my truck for the next 15 years easy lol. Love these things and hate to see them go.

The $80,000 (!) Suburban will be lucky to be worth $40,000 in 3 years, especially when GM keeps cranking them out for 72 months at 0% and good luck getting 5 figures for it after 150,000 miles.
I love the ignorance that gets posted in car threads

The new Lexus GX and LX will be on the global truck platform, shared with the new upcoming Sequioa, 4Runner, and Tundra.
So it won’t be long before we lose the Land Cruiser and any variant of it.

I drive a 97 80 Series every day. It has 265k miles on it and runs like a champ. I had a 92 80 series prior to this on (totaled it) and liked it so much I bought my 97.

I’m just not paying that much for a land cruiser.
I’m sure they are great and all but come the frick on. Pretty much 100k for a Toyota? Hells naw

You can get one for 76-82k they only make about 3-4K a year no profit in them for Toyota

About $80K for a truck without apple car play or android auto, or a lot of the active safety equipment that's standard on even the cheapest Toyota models.
Toyota could have kept it somewhat updated and carried on with the same basic design, but they didn't.

I wanted one when I was car shopping last year but just couldn't justify the price and went with a Tahoe.

The suburban is just a glorified minivan.

Link? I hadn't heard this.

It’s the TGN-F platform I believe. I’ll have to do a look to see if I’m right.

Oh man the ignorance here.
First, the major components in the LC are designed to last at least 25 years in a 3rd world country. You don’t have to answer about an overpriced GM product.
Next, the LC will hold its resale value a helluva lot better than any GM product
Yukon’s, Suburbans are a dime a dozen Mommy mobiles...LC’s are the best overlanding vehicles ever made.

So it's ignorance to question why anyone would spend a significant amount more money for a vehicle that will not be nearly as practical for 99.9% of consumers' needs? Basically no one needs the "best overlanding vehicle ever made." Which is why Toyota sells a handful of them a year.
I won't speak for everyone, but I would imagine most are not questioning the quality of the Land Cruiser when they make comments like that.

I think the Land Cruiser you guys actually want hasn't been made in 15+ years.
Anyways. Hope you guys like red off road tow hooks, because this is the closest thing to a J200 Land Cruiser you can buy after next year.
Unlike the Land Cruiser, this thing has been kept up to date with the latest safety gear and can be had with either a turbodiesel engine or a V8 gasser. The company that builds it at least acts like they want to sell it.
It'ss pretty badass if you understand that, like the latest J200 Land Cruiser, it is a solid off roader but requires modifications for hardcore overlanding.
I'd drive one. This is a practical, reasonable choice.

It's not even the best overlanding vehicle sold by Toyota right now. Your opinion of the LC is outdated by about 20-30 years.
If I'm building an Overland rig, I'm starting with the 4Runner TRD Off Road, Tacoma TRD Off Road, Chevy Colorado ZR2 or the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Not a big, bloated, overpriced Land Cruiser - at least not the current generation.
