That place is a cesspool. I got permabanned over the summer for merely suggesting Latoya was going to be responsible for businesses failing

So the only way to beat her is to run someone against her who has similar/identical policies. That seems helpful.

Yes....frick...run Ray Nagin..I bet he'd win again. I bet fricking Mitch would beat her

I'd imagine they already had the license before COVID...I would have to believe they are considered a bar though..

Grandfathered in license.

Why you can have kids in there at any time.

I've done much much worse and not been banned, so there has to be more to it.

I don't have a dog in this fight because I don't live there and never have, but my hunch is that the only way she gets beat is if her opponent is even further left. Think Portland and the people who think Ted Wheeler of all people is too far to the right.

The only reason why Latoya has even a remote shot of losing is the money will NOT be behind her this time, like, at all, like they were last time.

That doesn't matter as much for an incumbent though.

Closing bars for a week is a fricking ridiculous move considering there isn't much data to support that people are getting/transmitting this shite due to bars and restaurants

Not to mention all the other things wrong with moves like this

All bars will not be closed during the height of the Mardi Gras season. You might not know they’re open, but they’ll be serving.

They just don't want them there after a certain time. Nothing illegal about it

Real Talk about the Mardi Gras shut down.
The amount of actual sales the Pub could do during that long weekend would be wiped out by another huge spike. Most New Orleans bars can not do any kind of real numbers without contributing to the problem either IN their establishment or on the crowded streets.
Am pissed off that the only way the City can approach this is to shut down entire license classes? Yes, and I've told them that repeatedly.
Am I pissed that I and my employees continually have to pay personally the price for what goes on at the uptown places selling bags of chips as " food" and for the partying crowds in the French Quarter? Yes, and I've told them that repeatedly.
Am I pissed that have to borrow more money to make the payroll that week so my employees can eat without work for 5 days? Yes, and I've told them that repeatedly.
Am I pissed that the administration thinks its as easy are "file for COVID unemployment when we KNOW the money isn't flowing out of the state on a timely basis? Yes, and I've told them that repeatedly.
All that said, I do agree that targeted and time limited shut downs can prevent the oncoming deluge of illness that Mardi Gras could cause.
So the upshot is that we will be open until they close us. You'd be helping us a lot of you could come buy some food ( either to go or in house) and maybe a drink or two before the 12th!
