I have a feeling it has more to do with vacation mindset coupled with all inclusive alcohol access.

I've been to the Grand Oasis. The swimup pool bar is cool. No one ever had to get out to pee. Must've been something in the booze then too.

Sounds like they got shite faced by a pool and blacked out

So in Mexico, you can't drink the water, now you can't drink the alcohol?

The wife and I were there a few months ago. We didn't get robbed. She did get really shitfaced one night but my bar tab easily explained that one.

I've been to Mexico plenty of times without issues but it's not inconceivable that some resorts may be willing to cut corners to save a few bucks.

There are few all-inclusive resorts in this world that aren't trashy. In fact, unless you're paying an additional fee (up front) as part of a "breakfast + dinner & drinks" package, your place is probably going to have quite a few trashy people.

the town of Cancun (not the resort areas) is a third world shithole. I had to go down there years ago because my buddy got his wallet stolen and had to hit a western union. I'm just glad I made it out with both kidneys
ETA - it looks just about like a typical border town in Mexico

I wouldn't go to any of that shite if it was given to me. And wouldn't let my kids either. I read that article this morning. I'm sure it's true.

Solid article
It's crazy that anyone is surprise in the uptick in violence after arresting Chapo. It's just like the Middle East, you take out the top and it creates a power vacuum

Its not unbelievable to consider that some all inclusive's may be spiking "fruity/sweet type drinks" with Everclear to cut down on usage and increase profits? This would cause some people to drop faster than expected.

The scary part isn't that the alcohol had everclear in it but rather that they are serving alcohol with Methyl Alcohol . Methyl Alcohol or Methanol is a colorless, odorless solvent used in antifreeze and it is highly deadly when these people are buying homemade booze and putting into a Ketel bottle. Scary stuff going on down there.

Sounds almost as bad as the city of Chicago.
