Its an international culinary destination. Yes, you're in the minority
You need a better food guide, is what you need.

I have friends, grown arse men making decent money, that plan trips as a group, but will try to go cheap on the housing accommodations. I can't stand that shite. I want to guarantee sound, peaceful sleep. I always pay the difference to ensure good accommodations

Would not rent.
Have to do a LOT of research when renting properties. That house looks great though.
For me though, to go to NOLA, and not stay in the quarter? I'd have to do a shite ton of research.
I've only stayed in Prytania Park one other time(don't know what that is like now . And once stayed in the hood. Holiday Inn right across the river. We took the ferry in for Mardi Gras. We walked back from the ferry to our rooms one night. The cab driver the next morning laughed at us for being dumbasses. "You realize what you walked past?" He pointed out a large looking project type area. Told us to never walk past their at night.
This was 1994-95 so I don't recall what he was referring to or if it still stands or if he was just fricking with tourists. We were just average white kids though. Not worth robbing back then. Clothes no black kid would want and flat broke walking out of the quarter. They'd have got $30 combined off three of us.
For me to stay anywhere other than the quarter I'd be on tripadvisor and on here getting reviews and opinions.

You need to find better people to travel with. I have a few couples that are the same and we don't travel with them. I have a few men who I travel with to different sporting events and we will not stay in a shithole. This is the reason I attend.

It's a shite city. I'm not sure why anyone goes there for anything other than to get liquored up and see some tits.
Luckily the rednecks who no nothing better than to just do this don't make up a huge number of Nola tourist.
May educated and well off people from around the world come to Nola to see and do shite other than put on their best jorts, go get a hand grenade, and fill their fatasses up on fried shitty food.

Uhhhhhh, that would've been the Fischer Projects. That was a rough arse hood in the mid 90s.

There are quite a few AirBnBs in the 7th. It's usually young European tourists staying in them.

You're right, there is nothing else to do in that city except go get loaded up on Bourbon Street.

I love how things like AirBnB can get away with roping people into some freaking straight up hoods like this.
To be fair, AirBnB isn't roping anyone into anything.
You could say, the property owner isn't being forthcoming that's for sure

One of the big reasons I thought the soccer match on the TV in the pic was a brilliant touch.

No, it isn't. That's why the Michelin guide ignores it.

people actually have a vehicle these days to get away with renting out what 5-6 years ago was likely a crack house, due to probably some glossy online pics.
This is not even an exaggeration.

Settled for a house in the 7th Ward?
checked the block on streetview... yikes!
Bars on doors and windows wouldn't encourage me to rent a house.
